Theme
If you believe in yourself you can doing anything. in this story Matt and Colby have a bad grade in opposite classes and they think they won't get that grade up to a B in two weeks. They believed that they couldn't do it but they do.
Figurative Language
In this book the author uses only a little amount of figurative language but when he does it all relates to the story itself.
EX: Simile; He throws the ball like a twister it spins so much. That simile shows that Matt can throw a good pass to his teammates so they can catch it.
Metaphor; Gonzalez runs faster than lightning. Matt said that towards his wide receiver Gonzalez who is the fastest person in the state. It is good to have a fast player on your team so he/she can out run people.
Personification; Matt's football spins like a leaf falling off a tree in fall. It is easier to catch a pass when it is spinning weather than it rolling in mid air.
