Coach's Corner-What I Am Thankful For

"Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to? Be thankful when you don't know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn. Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow. Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities for improvement. Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons. Be thankful when you're tired and weary, because it means you are making a difference. It's easy to be thankful for all the good things. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks. Find a way to be thankful for your troubles, and they can become your blessings."

Alberto Casing

Enjoy your week off. I sure hope each and every one of you know how thankful I am for the work you do every day! Remember what you are thankful for over the holidays. I sure will.

Fall Festival Totals Are In!

First of all, a HUGE thank you to the Fall Festival Committee on organizing such an amazingly successful event! We made a profit of $1,297!! The cake walk also brought in $283 for the faculty account! We appreciate those of you who took a few minutes to fill out the survey last week. Here are some improvements coming for 2016:

*Increasing cost of each game

*Canceling nutrition assistance with heating up the food (it cost us about $400)

* Purchasing a snow cone machine or a cotton candy machine for the school

*Grouping cupcakes in sets of 6 for the cake walk so they will last longer

*Spreading out the nail/hair/face painting booths

*Adding an additional booth to sell tickets

*Looking into the possibility of a petting zoo and/or mechanical rides

*Increasing staff donations for cupcake/cake walk (only 35 out of 100 people donated)

Overall, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. We will keep the Fall Festival on a Saturday (decided by the committee) because that is what is best for the families we serve. Great job on a great event!

On the shelf in my office, are several titles of professional books we are removing from the library. There are several copies of each title. On the front of each title I have placed a sticky note with the number of copies we have to give away. If you would like a copy to keep for your own library, simply write your name on the sticky. First come, first served. The books will be delivered to your box! Happy reading!
