News From Marion Jordan Elementary
Information from Mrs. Grosch
Although not traditional and a bit unconventional, I continue to be impressed by all that our staff and students are accomplishing each day. Our students have adapted to their new routines. Those learning remotely have come a long way from where they began, some not even knowing how to independently log on or unmute to talk. In person students have come to accept lunch in the classrooms, one way hallways, and temperature checks to be part of the norm.
With all of the "new", I find comfort in knowing some of our school traditions are being upheld, allbeit in different ways. The book fair, Trunk or Treat activities, and picture day are a few examples of things that are important we have figured out ways to sustain. We will continue to do this with two annual November events, the Thanksgiving food drive for the greater community; and Parent/Teacher conferences for our school community. Please watch communications from the PTA for information about which items are being collected by each grade level for the food drive. We will be collecting donations in bins as students enter the building from the bus or via drop off.
Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled for Monday, November 23 from 12-8pm and Tuesday, November 24 from 7:30-11:30am. Conferences will be held virtaully this fall. Marion Jordan teachers look forward to this formal opportunity to connect with you and share information on your student's progress.

From the Health Office
These continue to be uncertain times related to the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic. We greatly appreciate all of your efforts to communicate health information related to your student(s) and families with us. It is essential for you to continue to report ANY symptoms of ANY member of your household in a timely manner so that next steps in the interest of our greater school community can be taken.
We acknowledge that the upcoming Thanksgiving break offers families an opportunity to travel to visit relatives and/or welcome guests into your homes. We kindly ask, for your continued safety and the well being of others, that you continue to monitor and consider the recommendations set forth the the CDC and IDPH. These are challenging times for us all, yet there is a increased need for compliance based on the rising number of confirmed and probable cases being reported daily. The year has already forced our hands to make adjustments in so many aspects of our lives, perhaps this is the year to recognize your Thanksgiving traditions in a new way.
Thank you,
Nurse Sherin Thomas, RN BSN
