Update from Mrs. Muraca, Science & Technology
Health Office Update
With our weather being so unpredictable this Spring, we do remind all our students to dress appropriately for changeable weather this time of year. Safe footwear is recommended for the playground!! Flip-Flops while stylish and cute are troublesome and dangerous on the playground. Sneakers for PE class are essential.
PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL STUDENTS HAVE A CHANGE OF CLOTHING IN THEIR LOCKERS!!!!
Seasonal Allergies are already in full swing and the Tree Pollen counts are fluctuating in the moderate to high range. It is recommended to start seasonal allergy medications at home now if you have not already done so and to be consistent with daily allergy medication at home.
Ticks are also out and on the prowl, the website www.mass.gov/MosquitoesAndTicks has some good advice, resources and guidelines
Please check your children after playing outside, after hikes, or the ball fields.
Please send daily water bottles for students, refillable are fine, as we want the students to stay adequately hydrated here at school.
Postural Screening as Mandated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health will be done for grade 5 Students May 9 & 10th. As per the notice sent home with students please make sure they have appropriate attire for those days.
Happy Spring to all!
Kate Messner, Author Visit Grades 5-7
Three years ago, TES welcomed author, Kate Messner to our school. She mesmerized us as she talked about her books, where she gets her ideas from, and how she does her research for her books. We talked about Kate's presentations long after her visit! Next month, Kate's publisher is sending her on a book tour to promote her newest book, "Breakout." Because of her positive experience at TES, she recently reached out to us to see if Tyngsboro would like to be one of the stops on her tour. We quickly agreed. Kate will be visiting grades 5-7, the same kids that listened to her talk when they were 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Over the next month, teachers will share and read a small excerpt of Kate's new book. If students would like their own copy of "Breakout" in time for Kate's visit, the link for purchasing Kate's book can be found below. Using this link is the only way to guarantee that the students will have her book when she visits. Part of her visit will be dedicated to signing copies of her book that students order through this link. The deadline to order is May 29th. In the order comments please put the school's name, the teacher's name, and the student's name. Choose the "pick up in the store" option so as not to be charged a shipping fee. Use the coupon code: BCPMessner18 to get 10% off the purchase. We look forward to Kate's visit in June.
Tyngsborough High School’s Service Learning class will be having a “Parent’s Night
Out” on May 11th, 2018 at the Tyngsborough Elementary School. Service Learning is a class where high school students are able to choose an organization to fundraise for and donate money to. Our group has chosen to donate all of our earnings to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for Leukemia research. There will be board games and a movie playing in the cafe, as well as games available in the gym. Certified babysitters and an EMT will be watching the kids as well as National Honors Society members. The movies that we will be playing are Finding Dory and Trolls, and we are very excited for everyone to come. The fee is $15 per child, and a slice of pizza and an ice cream sandwich are included with the price. There will be a $30 cap for families with more than two kids. Additional snacks and drinks will be sold separately. Doors will open at 5:00 pm and pickup will be at 8:00pm. Parents/Guardians must come into the cafeteria to collect their children with a valid ID. Any Questions please email to Zach.Richall@Tyngsboroughps.org
A huge thank you!
Thank you to Mrs. Dunbar, Mrs. Isenberger, & Mrs. Morrill for providing such wonderful care to the students, staff, and families of TES!
