Class of 2019
Detailed dissection
“It was gross at first, but once we got started it was pretty interesting.”
That’s what one OMS seventh grader said about dissecting frogs this week. Students located various organs of the frog, including the peritoneum, liver, heart, lungs, gall bladder and small intestine. Then they had the opportunity to explore, which for most students meant searching for the brain.
COC Champs!
The seventh grade boys placed second.

Best Buddies Club
It’s Teacher Appreciation Week and OHS students who are involved in the Best Buddies Club took the opportunity to honor all staff by serving them a spaghetti lunch May 9. Students worked to create a restaurant experience for staff, not only by helping to cook the food, but by being hosts, servers and bussers.

Robot Challenge

This challenge was based on real-world events when the tsunami damaged the nuclear power plant in Japan. Robots were used in the clean-up of that disaster site.
Make good choices!
South Elementary students had a special guest May 9 for the final character assembly of the year— K.C. Wolf with the Kansas City Chiefs! He talked to students about making good choices. What a fun day!
Summer School is going to be a grand EDventure! First graders will learn about weather, terrain and wildlife during Camping in the Ozarks. Second graders will make crafts, sing songs and play with Skippyjon Jones during El Skippito’s Adventures. Third graders will travel to the pyramids of Egypt and the Great Barrier Reef during Creating Connections with Continents and Culture. Fourth grade will use books, maps and technology to explore on their All American Road Trip. And fifth grade will learn what it takes to make an idea a reality in Exploration of Inventions and Inventors.
