Principal's Message
Dear St. Maria Goretti Catholic School Families,
Please share the good news of St. Maria Goretti Catholic School with any family and friends with school-aged children. Invite them to attend our Open House on Sunday, January 30th from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, or Tuesday, February 1st from 8:30 AM -11:00 AM for a personal tour, or any weekday/time that is convenient for them, to learn more about SMGCS! YOU are our best advertisement and we need your help! Thank you!
National Catholic Schools Week kicks off on Sunday, January 30th! We will once again have speakers addressing parishioners at all Masses the weekend of January 29-30 for Catholic Schools Weeks, and are looking for student volunteers to do the readings at each Mass. Please see the following SignUpGenius link to sign up.
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0D45A8AC2FABFD0-smgcs3
We also ask that all SMGCS students who attend Mass with their families that weekend wear their full-dress, Mass uniform. It is such a wonderful and powerful testimony when students visibly represent our school in this way.
Be on the lookout next week in the Trojan Times for more information about the fun activities we have planned for Catholic Schools Week!
Don't forget SMGCS will dismiss at 12:10 this Friday, January 14, 2022.
SMEED will be available. Students must bring a sack lunch and a drink.
Please keep our students, teachers, and staff in your prayers as we begin our new semester.
St. Maria Goretti, Pray for Us!
Blessings,
Amy Utendorf, M.Ed.
Principal
Illness and COVID Reminders
Please remember to keep your child(ren) home if they are not feeling well. It is extremely important that you notify the front office AND Nurse Beth that your child will not be in school.
We will be following the CDCs current recommendations regarding COVID and quarantine. You can find more detailed information regarding these policies here:
https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/s1227-isolation-quarantine-guidance.html
Please keep in mind that if you or your child(ren) has been exposed to someone who has received a positive COVID test AND/OR you or your child(ren) are awaiting COVID test results you should notify Nurse Beth and Mrs. Utendorf BEFORE sending your child(ren) to school. Anyone awaiting COVID test results is not allowed to return to school until they receive a negative test result.
We are working extremely hard to make sure the students on our campus stay healthy and in school. We work in close contact with the Diocesan Nurse to ensure we are following the correct guidelines regarding COVID.
We will continue to communicate any COVID cases that we might have on our campus. I want to keep our school community healthy and we can only do that if we are transparent and we communicate with each other.
Please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Utendorf or Nurse Beth if you have any additional questions or concerns.
Please pray for an end to the global pandemic, for the recovery of all those affected by COVID, and for a safe and fruitful new year.

Parent Help Needed!
We need help running practices and games during the club season. Please don’t view this club as a babysitting club; we truly need your help to make this successful! You do not need to be well-versed in soccer or have played before. Adult volunteers have the opportunity to earn spirit hours for their time. All volunteers must be up to date on Virtus training. Please contact Olivia Bradley at 254-289-9696 or Olivia.a.bradley@gmail.com if you are interested in helping or just show up. Thank you!!
Cecilian Singers Accepting New Members Through January 12th
Several families have expressed interest in their student joining our 3rd-8th Grade student choir the Cecilian Singers. Now that our Christmas Program is complete, we are accepting applications to join us as we begin to prepare for our spring performance. If your student is interested, please complete and return the registration form by January 12 so your student can join us at our meeting on January 13. We will not be accepting new applicants after January 12 in order to begin our spring rehearsals as a complete group. If you are already a Cecilian Singer, you do not need to register again. Please contact Mrs. Richards rrichards@smgschool.org if you have any questions!
