In ponds and lakes during the summer, ranges at 4° C near the bottom to 22° C at the top.
During the winter, the temperature at the bottom can be 4° C while the top is 0° C.
In the Spring and Fall seasonsthe top and bottom layers mix causing the middle layers' temperature to range to around 4° C.
In streams and rivers the temperature is cooler at the source than at the mouth.
