Ensure you're getting timely district alerts

This week’s first snow is a great reminder to make sure the contact information you’ve provided the District is up-to-date. We want to ensure you’re getting timely alerts on inclement weather operations and other important notifications. Please take a moment to do the following:

View Notification Preferences/Enable Text Messages
District 303 will send notifications to families through the ParentLink system by text message, phone call and email based on your settings. Parents/guardians can view and edit their contact settings through the Home Access Center.

To receive timely emergency communications, we strongly encourage families to enable text notifications. For most people, this is the fastest way to receive and view important messages. Here’s how:

  • From the HAC main menu, select the “registration” tab to view your contact settings
  • Select the “edit” button to change your contact settings
  • To enable text message notifications, enter your cell phone number in the SMS/text message field
  • Select the “save” button

Users can only update their child(ren) and personal contact information. You will not be able to make changes to another parent/guardian's contact information. For updates to emergency contact people, please reach out to the school directly.

Thank you from Wellness Council

Health Office

There has been an increase in RSV in the community. According to the CDC, the respiratory syncytial (sin-SISH-uhl) virus, or RSV, is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. Most people recover in a week or two, but RSV can be serious, especially for infants and older adults. RSV is the most common cause of bronchiolitis (inflammation of the small airways in the lung) and pneumonia (infection of the lungs) in children younger than 1 year of age in the United States. People infected with RSV usually show symptoms within 4 to 6 days after getting infected. Symptoms of RSV infection usually include

  • Runny nose

  • Decrease in appetite

  • Coughing

  • Sneezing

  • Fever

  • Wheezing

These symptoms usually appear in stages and not all at once. In very young infants with RSV, the only symptoms may be irritability, decreased activity, and breathing difficulties.

According to CUSD 303 absence guidelines, students must be 24 hours fever free prior to returning back to school. A fever is a temperature of 100 degrees F or greater. Students with a persistent, productive cough must remain home as well. Masking remains optional for all students.

There are steps you can take to help prevent the spread of RSV. Specifically, if you have cold-like symptoms you should

  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your upper shirt sleeve, not your hands

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

  • Avoid close contact, such as kissing, shaking hands, and sharing cups and eating utensils, with others

  • Clean frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs and mobile devices

With cold, flu and respiratory illnesses upon us here is a reminder of the Covid protocols:

Thank You BG Shop Volunteers

Thank you to the parent volunteers that supported the BG Shop on Halloween. We had Dena Hogland, Eric Martin, Megan Felt and Lauren Licht come out to assist in the shopping experiences for students. It was a huge success and we truly appreciate your help. Thank you also for the donations for the BG Shop. They are greatly needed and appreciated. Students love seeing all the new items that appear monthly.

Car/Backpack Tags

Car Visor Tags:

For car riders, we use a Visor Tag System. This helps move our pick-up line quicker. If you need additional visor tags, please email Mrs. Kirincich.

Backpack Tags for K-1

K-1 students were given a set of 4 backpack transportation tags from their classroom teacher in August. If you are in need of additional transportation tags, you may order them directly here.

Outdoor Clothing

Please be sure to send your child with appropriate outdoor clothing for recess. Students have outdoor recess unless the outside temperature is below 0.

Please label your child's jacket, gloves, hat, etc. whenever possible. It helps us return items to their owner when they end up in lost & found.

How to Report Absences

Absences should be called in by 7:45 AM if your child will be absent for any portion of the day. The number is 331-228-2100 and has voicemail. You can call during the evening or overnight and leave a message. Please leave your child’s name and the reason why your child is out. If they are ill, please indicate their symptoms. Even if you notify your child's teacher of an absence via email, we ask that you please still notify the office.

Picking up your child early?

Please call the office when you are 5 minutes away and we will have your child ready and waiting for you at the office. You will have to press the buzzer to come inside the vestibule to sign them out. 331-228-2100
