CROC TALK
October 2020
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Cherry Creek Families,
SEP's
We are looking forward to our first SEP conference this year on October 8th from 3:30-9:00. Your teachers will reach out with the time you have scheduled. We ask that you wear a mask and social distance while in the building. If you are not comfortable attending in person, please reach out to your teacher to schedule a ZOOM conference.
SPIRIT WEEK
We had a ton of fun with this, the kids really went all out with their crazy socks, hair, and hats! The school was a sea of red on Thursday and I always love to see the kids all slicked up for picture day. We ended the week with our annual WIG assembly and announcement of our Leaders of the Month and Top Crocs. Due to Covid, this was a virtual assembly, but you can watch it on the Facebook Live link here: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=689209868466129&extid=1Bai6l8YoshbtZ3c
FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM
In case you didn't know, we have a site on Facebook and Instagram. Please check it out often as we advertise important items there. https://www.facebook.com/CherryCreekElementary

SPIRIT WEAR
Due to popularity, the school shirt website has been RE-OPENED! Yay! It will remain open until October 9th. The link is : GAMEDAYPROMOSCLIENT.COM/CHERRYCREEK Please include: Student name and his/her teacher in the Notes Box during checkout.
Masks:
We have had an increased number of students coming to school without a mask. Please remind your student(s) to bring their mask(s) every day. Masks should be washed and rotated often.
Free Breakfast and Lunch through December 31st:
Breakfast is served at 8:30 AM and students can enter the school through the lunchroom doors. If students want to eat lunch, they just need to tell their teacher in the morning and then stand in the lunch line.
School Donations:
Donations are used to purchase classroom supplies, pay for extra field trips, class parties and class rewards. These can be paid by going to the parent portal in Infinite Campus, selecting the 3 horizontal lines in the top left corner, selecting fees and making a donation. We appreciate these donations SO much and they directly benefit your children.
Parent Responsibility:
We want to keep students in school. In order to do this, we ask that as parents you do your part to screen your children before sending them to school each day. With cold and flu season coming quickly, we need to be very diligent in following these guidelines. If your child has any of the following symptoms you need to keep them home. These guidelines are from the Health Department and we are obligated to follow them.
- Fever of 100.4 or greater
- Chills
- Cough
- Runny nose or congestion
- Sore throat
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Headache
- Diarrhea
- Fatigue
- Nausea and vomiting
- Muscle and body aches
- Recent loss of taste or smell
If your child has experienced any of these symptoms in the last 48 hours please do not send your child to school.

Leader In Me
Supporting Leader in Me at Home
Research has shown that the simple act of writing a goal greatly increases the chances of accomplishing the goal. If the goal is broken down into action steps and the action steps are tracked, goals have an even greater percentage of success.
At school, your student writes their academic and personal goals in a Leadership Notebook. You will gain a lot of information on how your student is doing if you ask your student to tell you about their goals. Encourage your student to share and post their WIGS at home, and ask them how you can help and support them in their goals.
The Leadership Notebook or Portfolio idea can also be used in your home. Create goals such as reading together, eating dinner at the table, or doing an activity together. Involve everyone in the family in choosing a meaningful goal and action steps. Post the goal and the action steps in a visible place and be sure to track and celebrate progress!
