Thanks to the generous support from our Smith families this year, the Smith PTO was able to fulfill all teacher grant requests! Our students will be enjoying new books, gym equipment, more efficient storage, science kits, microphones, and creation lab supplies to name a few. Some of these items will even be used to build a very cool bench for the hallway with chargers! Our Smith teachers express their sincere gratitude! Thank you, Smith families, for your continued support!

World Read Aloud Day

6th graders in Mrs. Taylor’s reading and writing classes celebrated World Read Aloud Day with some picture book fun! A big thank you to the PTO for the grant which allowed all students to use Play-Doh to make symbols of their books. We even Zoomed with authors from South Africa and Canada. Students reflected and said it was, “Stress-free, relaxing, creative and fun to read and create with Play-doh!”

Math Club Competition

Congratulations to Math Club students Agata, Samik, Tanish and Kevin! They represented Smith this past Saturday at the DCDS Math invitational tournament and took 4th in Rapid Rabbit Relay.

Families,

Please take a moment to review the drop-off / pick-up map below. We are seeing some specific issues in the parking lot that we want to bring to your attention.

  • The middle lane is for drop-off / pick-up only. Please do not park in that row. Pulling in and out of the parking spots is slowing down drop-off and creating dangerous situations for students and vehicles.

  • If you are going to park your car for drop-off / pick-up, please use the third row of parking spots highlighted in below in blue.

  • Please do not drop students off at the Martell/Cotswold intersection.

Thank you for your continued patience and attention to safety as we have over 600 students entering and exiting our school every day!
