Jump Rope for Heart
Hello Families! Our school is proud to partner with the American Heart Association with Jump Rope or Hoops For Heart. Over the next four weeks, our students will be having fun learning about their heart with the Scare Squad while raising money to help fund lifesaving research. Our school goal is to raise $6500, and in addition to helping the American Heart Association, our school can earn free PE equipment. Students can earn their own Scare Squad Monsters this year by using our new mobile app (download the Jump/Hoops App (App Store for iPhone or Google Play for Android) or by visiting heart.org/jump to sign up and raise money online! Just for signing up to save lives, your students will earn a glow in the dark wristband! PLUS this year, the mobile app unlocks even more fun and the Scare Squad Monsters and wristband come to life! Our Kick Off Event is Friday, February 9th. The Jump Rope Event will take place during PE March 5th-9th. All donations are due on Friday, March 9th. Thank you for helping a great cause!
Want to earn Jax? Raise $150 by March 1st and be recognized at Good Morning Miller on March 2nd!!

Message from Nurse Johnson
Dear Miller Parents,
We are still in the midst of flu season here in North Texas. As a reminder please keep your kids home from school for the following reasons. Information is found on the FISD website under Health Services.
· Temperature of 100 degrees or above. A child must have temperature below 100 degrees for 24 hours before returning to school without taking a fever reducing medication.
· Signs of severe illness, including fever, irritability, difficulty breathing, crying that doesn’t stop with the usual comforting, or extreme sleepiness.
· Diarrhea (3 or more episodes of loose stools in 24 hours). A child must be diarrhea free for 24 hours without the use of diarrhea suppressing medications.
· Vomiting two or more times in 24 hours, unless a physician feels the cause of vomiting is not an infectious disease and the child is in no danger of becoming dehydrated. A child should have one or two meals without vomiting before returning to school. Your child may be sent home from school for vomiting one time.
· Questionable rash until a physician has determined the rash is not caused by an infectious disease.
· Known communicable disease must be treated for the appropriate amount of time as directed by a physician.
· Recommendation of a physician or school nurse.
**It is NOT too late to get the flu vaccine. The single best way to protect your children from the flu is to get them vaccinated each year.
**Stay away from sick people and stay home if sick (Please see above FISD guidelines). It also is important to wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
Here is a helpful link to the CDC regarding the flu and taking precautions to prevent the flu. I am also attaching a parent guide to the flu. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. thank you! Leesa
