During our early dismissal Davis and Richmond teachers came together at Davis to learn more, build teacher efficacy, and build relationships. It was so wonderful to come together as one school and learn from each other. The Richmond teachers had a chance to visit classrooms at Davis and learn about all of the wonderful instruction happening in the primary classrooms. Later in April, Davis teachers will be visiting Richmond to learn more. It was a great time together to celebrate the students we have in common!

Dear Richmond Parents and Guardians,

You’re invited to provide feedback on the important elements about Richmond to help guide improvements. Now through March 31, Illinois parents, teachers and students in grades 4-12 may participate in the 11th annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey. On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators are:

• Effective Leaders

• Collaborative Teachers

• Involved Families

• Supportive Environments

• Ambitious Instruction

Research shows schools that are strong on at least three of these indicators were 10 times more likely to improve student learning in math and reading.

The Parent Survey is open through March 31, 2023. All responses are confidential and will never be connected to you or your child. To take the survey, visit survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois and select the parent survey. We are including a link to graphics of the login page with additional information about how to access the survey. Please note, to correctly select your child’s school you must enter Kane County in the appropriate box, even if your home or your child’s school is in DuPage County. You can also click here to view survey sample questions.

5Essentials Reports will be generated for schools if there is more than 50 percent participation from their teachers and/or students. These reports will be sent to schools and districts in May and will also be included in the State School Report Card. For the optional parent survey, a supplement report will also be generated if at least 20 percent of RICHMOND parents complete the survey. The parent data will not be reported on the State Report Card.

We had a very successful, fun and exciting Empower Showcase last week! Thank you to all that were able to attend. If you couldn't make it, please take a look at the pictures to see how it went. Now that our "Build It" module is done, it is time to send home these amazing cardboard creations. Because the creations were made in groups, more than one student may want to take the work home. If you give permission for your student to take home their project, please fill out the form found here. If only one student fills out a form for a project, they will be the one who takes it home. If more than one student fills out the form to request a project, I will put names in a hat from the filled out forms and choose a student that way. The form will be available until Sunday at noon.
