PRINCIPAL AND VICE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Bonny Slope Families,
As we approach the end of another school year, we wanted to take the time to reflect on all of the wonderful things taking place in our school and community. We thought there was no better way to do this than to share the letter we wrote for the yearbook with each of you. Although we know that some of you will see it in the yearbook, we wanted to be sure that every family had the opportunity.
Just imagine how different the world could be if we all spoke to everyone
with respect and kindness. - H. Branson
Dear Bonny Slope Students,
The following is Bonny Slope’s mission statement which shares our collective hopes and dreams for each of you. We are,
Dedicated to excellence by empowering our students with skills and attitudes to be lifelong learners and global thinkers; we are culturally sensitive and take action to create a better, more peaceful world.
This year we continued our focus on kindness. There are a lot of great things happening in our world, but what we have learned the most is that how we treat others, matters. During lunch, students were on the lookout for new friends to sit by, keeping an eye on the Buddy Bench, and practicing inclusiveness when out on recess. Mrs. Sidwell taught about standing up for what is right, even when no one is paying attention. Additionally, Bonny Slope staff, students and community became role models for extending kindness beyond the walls of our school and spent time helping at local organizations such as the Oregon Food Bank, Northwest Children’s Outreach, The Children’s Book Bank and many others. Students gathered clothing, food, and various items for those in need, including animals. It is our hope that all students go out into the world to make it a kinder, more inclusive place where all can benefit from the kindness of others.
Kindness was also shown through advocacy during the 2018/2019 school year. Staff, students and the community spent a better part of the year looking out for our next generation and advocating for what is right. They spoke for all students in Oregon as they rallied for better funding for public education. They wore red on Wednesdays, wrote to our legislators and advocated for more stable and sustainable funding for education in the State of Oregon. They were not only standing up for you, they were also modeling how powerful it can be when a group of people come together for a common cause that results in a positive outcome for all.
We are so fortunate to have a powerful community that supports our students in gaining an education that will make a difference in the lives each of you and for generations to come.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Maza & Mrs. Montelongo

We're so excited to be partnering again with Aichele Farms in Umatilla County for fresh, local strawberries! We're hopeful that the strawberries will be delivered on May 28th, but that is weather dependent as the farm wants to provide us with the best product available!
We are excited to serve Zenner's locally made sausages in June at all sites! Elementary Schools will serve them on June 5th and Middle Schools, Option Schools and High Schools will serve them June 7th! Please note that the sausages do contain both pork and beef.
