Deep Thoughts by Mr. Koder
A Weekly Update
One thing I continued to hear over and over is the need for greater community and parent involvement. I have known all year that is a need for our campus and I am committed to continuing to make that a priority here at Anderson. As many of you know, I have already voiced some ideas to connect us with our Anderson families and community. I know that it is important to all of us to have a connection not only to the kids that we teach but also to their families as well.
A big part of connecting to families outside of our campus or finding ways to bring families in will include buy in. I know that some of the things that we do push us outside of our comfort zones, but as long as it is what's best for our kids, I think the juice is worth the squeeze. I won't ever ask anyone to do anything that myself am not willing to do, but with a commitment to getting our families involved, it may take a leap of faith. This also goes back to my request of at least one member from each team attending PTA events. I think if our expectation is for parents to be present at these events, it up to us to lead by example.
I am incredibly excited to roll out some plans for reaching out to more to our parents. More information to come as the year continues on about the ideas that are already in motion. I do want to encourage you to come and talk to me any time if you have some great ideas for getting our parents more involved in what we do.
