School Attendance
It is important for every student to attend school every day. Missing too much school has long-term, negative effects on students, such as lower achievement rates. In December of 2016, the Ohio General Assembly passed House Bill 410 into law. The law encourages and supports a preventative approach to excessive absences and truancy. Fredericktown Local Schools are required to implement the requirements of this law. Here are a few points for parents and guardians to consider.
- When your student is absent from school please call the school to report the absence. You must also provide a parent note stating the reason for the absence or a doctors note. Parent notes must be received within 3 days of the absence.
- If a student is deemed excessively absent or habitually truant, the district will contact you to meet with the Attendance Intervention Team to develop an attendance intervention plan.
- Additional information can be found in the link below.
Winter Musical Performance
Our Second Grade Students are gearing up for our Winter Musical Performance. Mrs. Jessica Overholt does an outstanding job preparing our students for this awesome event. The performance "Hats!" is a musical that celebrates our students for what's inside rather than what's on top of them. The performance is open to the public and will be performed at Fredericktown Elementary School on the elementary stage on Friday January 26, 2024 at 7 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the performance will be held on Tuesday January 30, 2024 at 7 p.m. Please join us for this magical event.
64th Annual Knox County Spelling Bee
School winners from five local school districts participated in the Knox County Spelling Bee. The event was held at Mount Vernon High School in the Auditorium on January 11, 2024. School winners from Fredericktown, Mount Vernon, East Knox, Danville and Centerburg participated in the competition. Fredericktown Elementary School winner, Jace Smith competed and represented our school and district very well. Jace made it more than half way through the competition before being knocked out. He finished in 5th place. Congratulation Jace! Additionally, we would like to extend congratulation to a former elementary student, Carsyn Adkins. She won the county wide competition and will move on to the regional competition. All the contestants did a great job. Go Freddies!
