PCES Pirate Log
May 4th - May 8th
You Are My Sunshine!
As you continue to let your love for teaching shine through the grey shadows of this difficult time of social distancing, we want you to know that you are greatly appreciated. Your dedication and passion never fail to leave your administration impressed.
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and you are the sunshine that keeps our flowers growing. Mrs. Mooney and I want you to know that your hard work, flexibility, and never-ending support inspires and motivates us daily. Your unending love and support encourages not only the tiny humans we have the privilege to teach, but also your peers to be the best they can be.
I hope Mrs. Bebeler doesn't mind that I borrowed her video. These are three precious Pirates that represent so many things I love and believe in.
PCES, you are my sunshine!

What's New in iReady?
From Linda Atwood:
I am writing with news of some additional resources we now have available to support distance-learning initiatives. A full list of resources on our At-Home site is also attached here for your reference. I am also excited to share news of our latest i-Ready release.
i-READY 10.5 RELEASE – WHAT’S NEW?
The coming 10.5 release of i-Ready® will include features we have expedited to help you cope with the challenges presented by extended school closures. These updates make it easier to:
- Quickly See How Your Class Is Performing. An Early Access version of the new Personalized Instruction by Lesson report for classes and report groups allows you to view performance on recently completed lessons and check the status of In Progress lessons. Using this report, you can now:
- Check student performance on lessons they’ve completed in the prior two weeks and see the status of Teacher-Assigned Lessons that are available to students.
- Identify students who are working in similar levels and domains for grouping.
- See which lessons students are struggling with before there’s an alert.
Cheat sheets and additional resources for the new report will be available on i-Ready Central®. The functionality of this report will be expanded for the coming school year.
- Keep Students Queues Tidy. To keep Teacher-Assigned Lesson queues manageable, i-Ready Teacher-Assigned Lessons will now be removed from a student’s queue 60 days after their due date.
- Engage Middle Schoolers’ Critical Thinking. This release begins the rollout of a new type of middle school Reading Comprehension lesson that focuses on connecting ideas in complex passages. The first new lessons are for Grade 6; lessons for Grade 7 and 8 are coming soon.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC GUIDANCE: i-Ready
- Family Support Site (in Spanish): The new i-Ready Family Support site and its resources will be translated in the next one to two weeks.
- Plory and Snaarg Encouragement Videos: Seven new videos have been added to the Educator Guidance page (see the “Engage Students and Families” section). You can access a full list of videos here.

Request from Mrs. Bond:
Please take the time to assist Mr. French:
I am finishing a study in order to complete my doctorate degree and need your help. Dr. Evers has approved the use of your input for my study and I have already aggregated student performance data from i-Ready prior to reaching out to you. Here's how you can help... If you taught 4th-8th grade math in the PCPSD during the 2018-2019 school year, your demographics can be matched to student performance as part of data collected from five school districts on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. All you have to do is complete a very brief 1-2 minute survey and I will do the rest. For more information about this study, you can read the attached letter and/or call me at (573) 275-8618. Thank you in advance for your help.
