Square 1 Art is Coming! Square 1 Art is COming!
Dear Family,
We have partnered with your child’s school to create a unique opportunity to celebrate their artistic accomplishments while raising much needed funds for the school.
Coming home soon will be your child’s custom catalog featuring their artwork. Won’t you help make your child feel like an accomplished artist by purchasing keepsakes for the whole family containing their masterpiece? The school earns profit from every order. And as a thank you for participating, we provide each child with a sheet of stickers imprinted with their artwork — absolutely FREE!
Watch for more details about the campaign and order deadlines. All online and paper order forms must be turned in by the due date on your child’s custom catalog. (No late orders can be accepted.) Together, we can help support the school, build your child’s self-esteem, and create lasting keepsakes from your child’s artistic achievements.
THREE EASY WAYS TO ORDER KEEPSAKES
- The paper order form attached to their custom catalog.
- Online at www.square1art.com/shop.
- Phone Customer Care 888-332-3294.
Makerspace News
Please do not drop off Makerspace materials if we are not in the building. We will have to throw away the materials if we are unsure of where they came from. Thank you for understanding.
A true makerspace is defined not by what's in it, but rather by what comes out of it: projects, experiences, artifacts, and learning. At Glenwood we are looking to have a makerspace that opens opportunities for children to design, create and explore. We are looking for donations of materials we can use in our makerspace. We are in desperate need of materials for our makerspace. Some things that we can not get enough of are:
small pieces of wood and nails for building
Cereal and cardboard boxes
masking and duct tape,
toilet paper and paper towel rolls,
craft supplies,
cereal boxes,
cardboard,
fabric, yarn,
streamers
plastic containers,
or anything that may end up in the recycling bin
We appreciate these and other materials that are in a clean and usable condition.

Disability Similarity
Similarity Awareness provides an integrated opportunity for all students to explore the similarities we share, regardless of ability, through participation in activities and discussion. Northeast Passage brought wheelchairs and accessories to our school to facilitate and play a variety of familiar and novel games and sports. This experience taught Glenwood students to consider that using a wheelchair while playing a sport requires skill and practice and is also challenging, athletic and fun.
This program began with various activities to promote discussion and encouraged students to begin thinking about the similarities we all share. Following a brief introduction with activities and discussion the students had the opportunity to play a game in the wheelchairs.
Fifth Grade News
Fifth Grade had their Hands on History Presentation on Friday.
Fifth graders learned about the Minuteman era. They held colonial instruments and weaponry, wore clothing in Revolutionary War style, touched lamps, drinking cups, pens, documents and other items only seen before in history books. Students tried on uniforms for various regiments.
Denis Cormier brought trunk loads of authentic historical artifacts, weapons, uniforms and clothing.
