Doing it "Wright!"
Wonderful Happenings at WMR
January Events
January was a wonderful month at Wrights Mill Road. Students continued to excel academically. We celebrated super spellers, math magicians and 100 days of excellence. Wrights Mill Road continues to be the "Wright Place to Be."
Mama Mia! Math and Pizza!
The Grant Family
The Grants "mustache" for more pizza.
The Gullatte Family
The Gullatte kids had fun learning multiplication raps and taking home flash cards.
Helping Hands
WMR alums were a big help! Thank you Key Club and other AHS student volunteers for all your hard work.
Over 100 families came to eat pizza, win prizes and learn math "tips and tricks" from our fabulous teachers. Help from so many sources made this night a huge success. True Deliverance Holiness Church provided transporation for 10 familes who otherwise would not have been able to attend. Beef O'Brady's and Scholastic Book Fairs donated door prizes. PTO provided 20 additional pizzas for underprivileged families. We know that many of our RTI and EL parents benefitted from this night of fellowship. All parents expressed appreciation for the explanation of the CCRS math standards and for the question and answer time. The evening was one of pizza, math and anticipation of finally getting some Alabama snow! It is hoped that many of the activities shared on the 27th provided ideas about how to practice math facts in between sledding and building snowmen.
Super Spellers!
Congratulations to 4th grader, Miranda Corria, who placed 6th in the district Spelling Bee.
100 Days of Excellence!
WMR students celebrated 100 days of excellence on January 23th. With the help of his mom, third grader, Zakell, traced 100 keys on his t-shirt and painted them by hand. When he brought the shirt to school to share for his project we were all impressed!
