Investors in Families
Working with schools to support family engagement
What is Investors in Families?
Based on the evidence that children’s attainment at school will improve when their learning at schools is reinforced at home, Investors in Families offers schools an award to demonstrate their commitment to engaging families so that they become partners in their child’s education.
Investors in Families is now in partnership with the Wales Centre for Equity in Education to bring their scheme to a wider range of schools in Wales.
What is the assessment criteria?
Schools who want to gain the qualification can do so by submitting a portfolio which details the activities they undertake to involve families in their child’s learning and the wider school environment. This is considered alongside a visit from an assessor and if successful, the school will gain the award which demonstrates their commitment to family engagement. The award lasts for three years and after this period the assessment takes place again. Schools involved in the scheme are supported by IiF and given access to a range of materials including a toolkit and case studies.
