Weekly Update
Hello Foster's Finest!
I have a very important request of our parents who are dropping off in the loop in the morning. This request is about student and staff safety. Please follow the directions of the staff in the loop and pull forward if they ask you to. Your child should only be exiting out of the right side of the vehicle. Students should not be getting out into the interior of the loop. We do not want students to walk between vehicles. If a staff member reminds you of this, please respond with kindness as they are doing their jobs to keep everyone safe. Your response to staff is a teachable moment for your child. Please put your vehicle in park while students exit. All it takes is for one student to walk between a car and a foot to slip off of a brake pedal for a tragedy to happen. This is about student and staff safety. We are starting to see concerning habits make their way into our drop off as the year is progressing. Your attention to this is very much appreciated.
As we head into the Thanksgiving Holiday there are so many things to be thankful for here in our school community. Last week, our own Fifth Grade Student Council recognized our Veterans. What an incredible assembly driven by our students. One of the great things about my job, is I am able to get into classrooms. I had the benefit of seeing our students learning at multiple grades in multiple classrooms learning about Veteran's Day and I saw them working to prepare for the assembly. Simply incredible to see from start to finish how they reached their final product!!!
I am also excited to announce that our student council has also created the first issue of "The Foster Chronicles" our official newspaper driven by our students! Now that is something to be thankful for. Students who are excited about writing and the news. As if this principal could be any more proud of these future journalists. Please click on the link and enjoy our inaugural edition.
There are many things for us all to be thankful for. Our students, our staff, and our community here at Foster are doing great things. The charity that I see in our community through our Kindness Club, Foster Gives, the time parents give to the PTO to fundraise, organize events, and make things special for our students and staff is overwhelming. It is appreciated and needed for the success of our school community.
Have a terrific weekend!

COVID TESTS
Thanks to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), The Executive Office of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Public Health, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has provided at-home COVID-19 tests at no cost to school districts. These tests are intended for use by students and staff to support the return to school process after Thanksgiving and Winter breaks.
We are able to provide every student with two tests. It is recommended tests be used no sooner than 24 hours prior to returning to school after these holiday breaks. The tests are Flow Flex (single kits) which expire on January 20,2023. We will send these home via backpack with students on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Testing is only a recommendation and meant as an option for families to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. We ask that families continue to follow COVID guidelines from the state to ensure the safety and wellness of our school community.
To keep things streamlined, each student will receive two test kits unless you opt-out using the form below..
Please use the following form only if you wish to opt-out of receiving the tests by Monday, November 21.
