This week at the pool...
KMSC news 8/27 - 9/4
Last Pizza at the Pool Tonight!
Enjoy pizza poolside tonight (8/27) for the final time this summer!
The pizza will be available from Ben Yehuda's from 5 p.m.-7 p.m., poolside or while supplies last.
Cost: $3 a slice, $5 for two slices and $20 for an entire pie, cash or credit (a transaction fee will apply for the latter).
We'll be enjoying rafting as usual during this event.
Many thanks to Tchadd Moore, a pool guest of the Vierlings who helped ensure our Pizza and Movie at the Mill still came off August 13th by loaning us a sound system when ours failed!
Also thanks to Alyssa Parness for loaning us the use of her "Beauty and the Beast" DVD, which was enjoyed by young and old alike (see photos below from organizer Sherri Spritzer).
Final Ladies Night a Success
Seventeen women made the last Ladies Night of the season a success August 15th.
While they enjoyed a potluck and libations mixed by host April Rivers, a former pool president, the women swapped jewelry and perfume.
The pool close to non-partygoers at 8:45 p.m., giving the women an opportunity to paddle or lap the pool in the quiet evening (see photos below from April Rivers).

Our Last Week Poolside Is Upon Us
Sadly, our summer season together is winding down.
The pool will maintain its summer hours until Monday, September 3rd:
- Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday, 12 noon to 9:00 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
But on Labor Day, September 4th, our last day, the pool will be open only from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Just like the start of the summer season on Memorial Day, Labor Day requires many hands to make light work of preparing our pool for the next season.
Expect to help us start putting the pool to bed when you visit for the final time next weekend.
We'll need people to stack the chairs, wipe down and move the refrigerators into the pool house, scrub the grill, remove the ladders, pack up the toys, and much more!
Some chores will need to be completed in the days and weekend after Labor Day. Contact operations director Bill Waller for details at email@example.com.
Our "lost and found" box also is filling up again.
Please check the box this week for your lost items. Anything still there when the last whistle blows on Labor Day will be donated to a worthy organization or thrown away.
To become a board member next year, please contact the chairman of our nominations committee, Len Wagman, now at firstname.lastname@example.org or 301-649-3605 for details. The election will be held in March 2018.
To get some idea of what our board does for all of us, attend the board's next poolside meeting tentatively scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 31.
If you would like to hold a party at the pool during these final days of summer, please contact our membership director at email@example.com.
A list of our operating rules is available on our website: http://swim.kempmill.org/about/operating-rules/. If you have questions about an operating rule, please ask the manager on duty or send an inquiry to the board.
