Hawk Happenings: Oct. 25th

Holy Rosary Regional School/Juan Diego Academy Community

Message from Sra. Farias - Oct. 25, 2017

Happy Wednesday!

Don't forget that this weekend is full of volunteer opportunities:

On Saturday, we have our Pierce Conservation District Tree planting to bring nature to our students. The ground has been de-paved and ready for planting.
Please arrive a few minutes before we welcome everyone at 9 a.m. so you can get signed in and have a snack before we welcome everyone at 9 a.m. After the welcome and tree planting demonstration, we will group you into teams to work together in the tree planting.

It's going to be a cool and crisp fall day as we work hard installing these trees. The 71 landscape trees will be planted along the back wall that will reduce air and noise pollution from I5, liven up the space and provide shade on hot days.

Please park in the front of the school as opposed to the back wall. If you are a leader of a group, please let Melissa Buckingham know at 360-791-5306 (mobile) so she knows to bring enough tools. Please come!! Bring friends, relatives and help!

There is a sign-up link on this newsletter as you scroll down below.

Don't forget that this Sunday is our Fall Festival. Nina Tatum needs volunteer helpers on this day and you can do it in costume! Set-up is Friday evening and on Sunday before the event. Sign-up instructions below.

I am happy to report that Ms. Dempsey's surgery went well. She is recovering at home nicely. I speak to her daily, to see how she is doing. Please keep her in your prayers as we want her back "pronto."

Our elevator is in working condition. Students were given the opportunity to use the elevator on Monday for lunch. They were excited! However, we have safety rules for our elevator that require its usage to be limited. Rules will be posted by each elevator door. We ask students and parents to carefully read rules and restrictions and to abide by them. Students are never to travel in an elevator without an adult or teacher to accompany them.

Do not forget to scroll all the way down to sign up for Parent -Teacher conferences.

One last item, please check out our "Dia de los Muertos" altar outside Pre-K 3 classroom. It was beautifully decorated and created by Jaqui Lemus with help from Lucia Flores and Ilianit Hernandez. Thank you Jaqui for bringing our hispanic culture to life with your incredible talent and dedication to our school. Jaqui is also working with second graders creating decorations for the altar.

Have a wonderful week.

Blessings,

Sra. Farias

Vice Principal

Have You Applied for Your Fulcrum Scholarship??

Don't delay on applying for your Fulcrum Tuition Assistance Program Scholarship for the 2018-19 school year. The award amount is $1200 for qualifying families. Don't forget, we will not be negotiating any tuition agreements or offering "in house" financial aid to families UNLESS they first apply through Fulcrum. Here is the link: https://fulcrumfoundation.org/grants-and-programs/tuition-assistance

  1. Scroll down to Tuition Assistance Grants and click on Apply
  2. Sign in or sign up for your account
  3. Complete the application (you will need earning/income information, expenses, and tax information) and pay the $24 application fee. Please note that Fulcrum will not be reimbursing application fees any longer.

Remember: In order for families to receive ANY financial assistance for next year, you MUST apply through Fulcrum first. Even if you do not qualify, we can still meet to discuss/negotiate a tuition contract for next year.

From the Development Office:

We need your help! Annual Fund is underway. We have a lofty goal to raise $146, 000. We are hoping for 100% from our school families and staff at amounts appropriate to their individual abilities. The funds raised support curriculum and materials, along with funding teacher's salaries, and new playground equipment. No donation is too small. You can choose to make a one time donation or you can pledge a monthly amount. Please see the school's Development Report that will be distributed in this week's communication envelope. We are lucky to have so many amazing and generous donors that support our school. For example the three phases of construction over the last three years were funded completely by a group of donors that wanted to see our building upgraded and enhanced. Please show your support by donating to the Annual Fund Appeal. No donation is too small. You can choose to make a one time donation or you can pledge a monthly amount.

To donate please see the following secure link on our website:https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/o5kPfZnwU-9YPZxE8gatew

Please choose the drop down for Annual Appeal. All donations are tax deductible. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Thank You!

A huge thank you to Dr. Bridget Yaden, her husband Jeff and their son Anderson for working on setting up donated IPADS at home.

Thank you to Mr. Greg Klein, as well as the Puryear and Klein families for securing the donation of some Ipads from the GSA. We are working on getting them set up to have in most of the classrooms. While we were given many Ipads, we only received 10 plugs to charge them. If you have any old Ipad plugs that you no longer need, will you send them in to the office? Here is a picture of the plug...
