Staff Recognition - Jason Jones
"I would like to nominate Jason Jones. Coach Jones has taken on a lot of "extras" since the end of last school year. He ran the strength and conditioning program all summer for all students, added volleyball to his summer workouts as well as continuing with basketball. He is co-head coaching volleyball with Mrs. Jones all while Taelyn is a member of the team and enjoying her senior season. He also started a zero-hour program for strength and conditioning. He is here early and leaves late every day. When you speak with him about his classes, he is always willing to do what is best for the students and it is very much appreciated."
Each week we'll thank a staff member in our Weekly Update. If you would like to nominate a staff member for the great things they are doing for our school, please email the information to alan.penrose@usd469.net.
Parking Permits
We will start checking permits in the next couple of weeks. Students who do not have a permit should not drive to school. The first day we check for permits, students who do not have one will park by the baseball and softball fields and parents will be contacted.
Juniors - WorkKeys
On the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 5th, juniors will have the opportunity to take the WorkKeys, which is a part of ACT assessments.
This assessment will be held at our school. This is a free opportunity for all 11th graders.
Benefits to taking the WorkKeys:
- Measures the workplace skills that can affect your job performance
- Measures critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving techniques for situations that occur in the workplace.
- Measures skills that individuals use when they read and comprehend graphical materials to solve work-related problems. (charts, graphs, diagrams, etc)
- Measures skills that individuals use when they read workplace documents and use that information to make job-related decisions and solve problems. (includes: messages, e-mails, letters, directions, signs, bulletins, policies, regulations, etc)
- Students can earn a credential that verifies foundational workplace skills called the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC).
- With results, students and families can compare skills on the WorkKeys to the skill levels of occupations.
More information about the WorkKeys assessment may be found at: https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/workkeys-for-job-seekers/assessments.html
