Happy Friday #WildcatWayD34 students + families!

Only 2 weeks remaining to this trimester... you've got this! Sharing the tips again to help us all get through the last two weeks successfully!

Have a great weekend and we will see our student wildcats on Monday!

5 Tips for ending this trimester strong:

  1. Stay Positive: The end of the trimester can seem hectic and stressful at times. Don’t be overwhelmed, do your best and know we are here to help you! Finish strong!!!

  2. Don’t Procrastinate: Limit your stress and anxiety by regularly staying on top of your work before it piles up, and give it your all!

  3. Take Attendance Seriously: When you are not at school, it can often take multiple days to “catch up” or get back on track in class. This is another thing that can cause you to feel stressed. Stay focused and we can’t wait to see you each day!

  4. Focus on the Finish Line: Remeber, there is an end in sight. Only three more weeks to this trimester and we enter our FINAL trimester of the year! You can do it, and it may even help to start a countdown. It is always nice for us to check things off a list.

  5. Make Time to Talk About School at Home: The end of the semester can be tough on everyone involved, and I know that it may seem like the last thing you want to do is talk about the day after it is over but staying connected at this time is really important. Take time for everyone to put down their phones, make eye contact, and be great listeners.

5 Essentials Survey - Take it TODAY!

January 23 - March 31, 2023

We are only at 9% parent participation! Take the survey today!

Have you taken the 5Essentials Parent Survey yet?

Your input on this statewide survey -- given to parents of all students throughout the state of Illinois -- allows us to help us improve our schools for our students. As a parent, taking the survey will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness. The statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered for the Illinois State Board of Education by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:

  • Effective Leaders
  • Collaborative Teachers
  • Involved Families
  • Supportive Environments
  • Ambitious Instruction

Prior research in more than 400 schools shows that schools strong on at least 3 of the 5Essentials are 10 times more likely to improve student outcomes.

Please click here to take the parent survey. We ask that you take the survey for each school in which you have a child. We will be pleasantly persistent in the coming weeks as we hope to reach 100% participation before the survey closes on March 31, 2023. We plan to use the results of this year's survey to give us a clear picture of our schools' climate and culture. If at least 20% of parents participate in the survey, a parent supplement report will be generated and we will share these results with the community.
