2nd Hand News
November 10-14
We experienced an excellent field trip to the Churchville Nature Center this week. Thank you so much to Marci, Sherri, and David who followed the beat of the drum and the kids as they learned to live like the Lenape. We began writing mini reports about the different stations in the Lenape Village and interesting facts that were taught at each one. It was fun to have our social studies unit come alive. Waneshe!
The children are using their math muscles by working on Marcy Cook Tiles, including Super Addition, Add an Addend, Hundreds Chart, and Tile a Number Sentence. There was nothing regular about learning what to do with irregular plurals in spelling this week. We are rapidly approaching the end of Elmer Elevator's first adventure, My Father's Dragon. What 2nd grade class is still asking, "can we PLEASE look up juicy words in the dictionary?" Our class is!
A FEW THINGS:
- Cooking time needs to be bumped back to 1:30 depending on how long the kids' part of the recipe takes (for instance, 4 groups of 4 kids for 15 minutes each). The kids (not the oven) MUST be finished cooking by 2:25 in order for the class to start Friday Sing promptly. Thank you, Parent Chefs!
- A reading log will be coming home at the end of next week for the month of December. Please keep an eye out.
- It's Polar Vortex time. Lower School kids learned everything they need to know about bundling up in kindergarten, and we haven't graduated yet!
- Lower School Parenting Night is Tuesday, 6:30-8:00. Hope you can join.
Have a great weekend!
With a smile,
Mrs. Nyce
