8th grade to attend LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at PHS-Central
Once again this year, PLSD Junior High students have the opportunity to attend theatrical productions at their respective high schools. This is a great opportunity for our students to see our high school theatre department perform, and decide if this is something they would be interested in pursuing.
On Wednesday, April 11th, all 8th graders will attend Little Shop Of Horrors at Pickerington Central. Students will report to Ridgeview that morning as usual and, once attendance is taken in first period, the 8th grade class, along with their teachers, will walk together to Central (weather permitting). Students are reminded to dress appropriately for the weather, including shoes practical for walking, and to remain on the sidewalk. After the play, the students will return to Ridgeview on school buses in time for lunches, and will resume their normal class schedule.
The cost to attend the play is $3.00 and will be collected by first period teachers, effective immediately upon returning from Spring Break. If we have inclement weather (rain, snow, ice) prohibiting us from walking to the high school for the performance, we will stay at RJHS, and ticket money will be refunded.
If you DO NOT want for your child to attend the play, or have special circumstances, please notify the school office ASAP. Students who do not attend the play will be required to do school work in a supervised classroom until all students and staff have returned.
MAY DANCE IS COMING
Mark your calendars! Our May Dance for this year will be Saturday, May 5. Here are a few guidelines to keep in mind.
1. Beginning on April 2, our first day after spring break, any student that receives an In-school or Out-of-School suspension will not be permitted to attend the May Dance.
2. The dress code is semi-formal:
· Suit/tie(optional)/dress pants/ shirt with a collar
· Dresses or skirts must be no shorter than finger-tip length when arms are held straight down by the side.
· All dresses must have straps and appropriate chest coverage
· No bare midriffs
· Anyone not in compliance with the dress code will not be admitted to the dance.
Pickerington Public Library is looking for Exceptional Teens this summer!
Libraries Rock! is the theme for Summer Reading Program and will run from May 29 through August 4. Volunteer opportunities will be available at both Pickerington Main and Sycamore Plaza locations. Not all programs/projects Volunteen opportunities available at all locations.
Why choose to become a Volunteen at your library? You will develop new skills, give back to your community and work in a fun environment with a great staff.
What will Volunteens do at the Library? Volunteens will help at the summer reading desk by registering participants for the reading program, distribute prizes, and assist library staff with other projects and programs. Participation in age appropriate programs will count toward service hours as well.
What are we looking for in a good volunteer? Someone who is friendly, mature, responsible, on-time, takes direction and instructions well, self-starters who see something that needs to be done and does it, comfortable working with a variety of different people, and not afraid to talk to people they don't know.
New Volunteens: Open to ages 12-18 in grades 7-12. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Late applications will not be accepted; application submission does not guarantee a spot. Applications can be found on the library’s website pickeringtonlibrary.org/volunteers/
Current Volunteens: Confirm with the Community Relations Coordinator their intention to continue their volunteering during the summer by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Late confirmation will not be accepted; being a current Volunteen does not guarantee a spot if late in confirming. If chosen, both New and Current Volunteens will be notified of training sessions. New and Current Volunteens are required to attend a training session prior to the start of summer reading to prepare them for their duties at the summer reading desk, and answer any questions they have about the reading program/prizes/etc. To accommodate people’s schedules, 2 training sessions will be scheduled.
We keep track of all the hours our Volunteers work and will be happy to verify these for any service organizations Volunteens may be involved with (National Honor Society, etc.).
Volunteens that volunteer 10 hours or more will be invited to the Volunteer Recognition and Award event in August.
