The Warrior Weekly

Week of December 14th

Holiday Cheer!

We have all enjoyed seeing our family and friends at each of the Holiday events. The Intermediate Family Literacy was well received and we appreciate all who found the time to join us. Breakfast with Santa was a huge success and it was great to see students of all ages enjoying themselves. We are looking forward to our Holiday Choir concert this week as well. This is certainly a busy time of year. We hope that each of our families enjoy the two week of Winter Break. It's been a great first half of the year and we are looking forward to continuing the success of the 2015 and building an amazing 2016 together!

Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do to support the Winfield School District, Winterfield Intermediate and The Warrior Way!

As always please call, email or stop by the office if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions.

Proud to be a Warrior,

Cold weather is here

With the cold weather upon us we wanted to take a moment to remind our families of the importance of proper winter attire for all of our young Warriors. Please make sure that your child comes to school dressed for the weather each day. We will continue to hold outdoor recess when possible. If you are in need of any assistance in getting a coat for any of our students please contact the office and we will assist you in making sure all of our Warriors are prepared for the cold weather ahead of us.

Wow!!!

Last week's attendance was 98.7%!!! Awesome!!

The Counselor's Corner

Hello Warriors!

In the upcoming weeks I will be discussing the Zones of Regulation with all of our Intermediate School Warriors! The Zones of Regulation give our students a concrete example of what they are feeling and how to handle different emotional states. For more information you can follow this link. In our lessons, students learn how to use strategies or tools to stay in a zone or move from one to another. Students explore calming techniques, cognitive strategies, and sensory supports so they will have a toolbox of methods to use to move between zones. To deepen students’ understanding of how to self-regulate, the lessons set out to teach students these skills: how to read others’ facial expressions and recognize a broader range of emotions, perspective about how others see and react to their behavior, insight into events that trigger their less regulated states, and when and how to use tools and problem solving skills. If you have any questions about how these tools can help your students outside of school please feel free to contact me at anytime.
