Week 2 Reminders
and Celebrations - Term 4 2021
It's Great to be Back!
Welcome back to our final term of the 2021 school year - it's hard to believe that we are at this end of the year already again, isn't it? Holidays are now a distant memory however, we are all feeling refreshed, focused and ready for a really productive and enjoyable nine weeks ahead!
Staff Professional Learning Days
On Tuesday we looked at the Pope's 'Laudato Si' Encyclical as part of our ongoing accreditation and we spent some of the time exploring the many wonderful resources available for supporting children's learning about caring for our 'common home'.
Here at St Emilie's we already embrace many of the sustainable practices recommended for schools and provide children with a number of opportunities to explore the ecological challenges the earth faces, however there is always more we can do as both individuals and as a community.
We have included a prayer below for you to reflect upon in a quiet moment. May it prompt you to think about how your family is rising to the challenge of being a responsible consumer of our natural resources, and adopting sustainable practices in your family home.
On Wednesday afternoon at our Professional Learning Community meeting, we met with an external facilitator from Best Performance - Ed Companion, to discuss and analyse data from our recent Naplan assessments. This information forms part of a larger, sustained, improvement agenda and gives valuable and targeted information for planning purposes.
Congratulations to Mrs Simone McKenzie (in Year One Gold) who is expecting a baby early next year. We wish Simone all the very best for the months ahead and look forward to welcoming another little addition to the St Emilie's family!
We wish our selected Year 6 Basketball Teams the very best at next Tuesday's qualifying games, held at Lakeside Recreation Centre in Bibra Lake. Congratulations to those who were selected from our school and thank you to all who participated in the try outs.
Numero Maths Challenge
Over the last few years staff have been in-serviced on the benefits of playing Numero in the classroom. Numero is a fun, educational, mental maths card game for all ages and next Friday, 22nd October, from 8.40am to 12.30pm a selected group of Year 5 students will compete in the regional Numero Challenge @ Ranford Primary. Congratulations to these students on being selected to represent our school and all the best for a great morning!
Edudance and End of Year Concert
This term students from PP to Year 6 will again participate in a fitness, dance session each week on either a Thursday or Friday. The Edudance performance will form part of our end of year concert on Thursday the 2nd of November. The concert will run from 5.15pm - 7.15pm and more details will come home closer to the date.
Yep - it was a hot one but nothing that a great attitude, some bubbles and some water guns can't fix! Children are once again commended K-6 on their efforts - to be smiling at the end of all their laps shows that we have the best kids in Australia in our school!! This afternoon's Walkathon was a great way to get together, to get outdoors, to get some fitness in, to connect with our older buddies and to raise money for special projects. Many thanks for your much appreciated support of our major fundraiser for the year - money raised is always spent wisely for the good of each and every child in our school. Along with maintaining the commitment we make to various educational programs, resources for classrooms, library books, Physical Education equipment and more, our next big target is replacing the play equipment in the Years 3-6 sandpit which is ageing and in need of an upgrade.
We wish families all the very best for the term ahead. During this Mental Health Week may we all try to slow down long enough to enjoy the small, 'gratitude moments' that present themselves throughout our busy days and may we continue to connect ourselves and our kids to the beauty and restorative power of nature in our lives.
All the very best everyone and have a great weekend!
Walkathon Moments - thank you for your support!
Thank you Year Ones!

ST Emilie's Class Allocation Procedure
Below is a document that explains our position on class placement here at St Emilie's. Please read it carefully when you have a moment - we hope it brings further clarity to why we feel confident in our decision-making. In saying this, if you wish to make a request, please place it in writing to the Principal by Friday 22nd October. Requests will of course be considered, however in the final analysis, many factors come into play when making these decisions.
Families leaving next year
If your family will be leaving our school community in 2022 you are asked to please let us know by emailing the Office and/or leadership as soon as possible. Many thanks, as this assists us to plan and to offer places to new families on the waitlist.
Please be reminded that unless we are given one full term's notice of an intention to leave St Emilie's, a family will be charged a full term's school fees.

Social Worker PARENT REFERRAL and CONSENT FORM
School social workers focus on the student in the school environment and work collaboratively with principals and teachers to minimise the impacts of personal, family and school difficulties and, where possible, remove any barriers to learning.
With students as their focus, school social workers provide consultancy, advice and support to principals, teachers and other school staff and to families, so that they can best meet the needs of individual and groups of children and young people. There is a strong emphasis on individual student and family counselling and support.
This service is an amazing opportunity for kids, staff and families and one we have wanted in our school for some time.
Please find below the Parent Referral and Consent Form to access our School Social Worker.
You are asked to read the procedure carefully and also note that Kylie only works two days a week. While she will do her very best to accomodate all family referrals, patience may be required as she prioritises her case load and allows time for observation visits, classroom support and playground involvement.
Image Embroidery now services our school community's uniform requirements.
For all uniform queries, please contact a member of the Image Embroidery team (contact details below).
Their store is just 5 minutes from St Emilie's for 'try ons' or you can order uniforms via their online form.
