Kindergarten Graduation - June 16, 2017
Congratulations to the Kindergarten Class of 2017. At the morning ceremony they sang and danced their way to getting their diplomas. The audience was appreciative of their renditions of "Dynamite" by Taio Cruz. The lyrics were changed to reflect their move to first grade. "Summer Nights" from Grease was also rewritten to reflect their memories of the year in kindergarten. They moved to "I am a Leader" a song dedicate to the Leader in Me skills. They ended with the traditional "First Grade, First Grade" (featuring the voice of Mr. Breault - if you did not know that)

Mission Statement
We will continue to roll this out over the coming weeks and months. There are some plans for an exciting start of the 2017-2018 school year centered around our clear focus for education. Thank you to everyone involved in this mission statement. Thank you to the community for supporting the fundraising efforts to help with effort and for always being a partner in education at CCS.
Walkathon and Kiss the Goat
A note from elementary principal Mrs. Calnon to the CCS elementary staff:
I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who supported Walk-a-Thon. Every single one of our teachers/staff members participated. The high-school Kiss-a-Goat event raised $335.74. The elementary walk-a-thon raised $9,688.52. Together we raised $10,024.26!
Today we completed the drawing for the $25 Target gift card as well as the drawing for Principal for a day. Hayden Bergeron won the $25 gift card! Drew Crawford was the winner of the Principal for a day drawing and he will be able to act as Principal on Wednesday, June 14th. All students that raised $100.00 or more will be invited to a pizza party on Wednesday, June 14th. There are 44 children that will be invited to the pizza party! Again, thank you to all faculty and staff that made this an AMAZING event!
Please take another moment to read the final total again. Over $10,000 was raised. Thank you to all the community members, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and everyone who pledged money for this event. The roll out of the new CCS mission statement will be exciting for all the students, staff, faculty and all members of the CCS family.
Principal for a Day
Pizza Party
All students who raised $100 or more for our Walkathon were invited to a pizza party lunch with Mrs. Calnon. There were forty six children that raised $100 or more! We had delicious pizza outside and were able to enjoy a beautiful day!

Excelsior Scholarship Application
The Governor’s Office asked that we pass on information about the new Excelsior Scholarship program. It is designed to make attendance at the State and City Universities tuition free for students from families making up to $125,000 per year fully phased-in.
For this fall, the scholarship will be available to students attending a SUNY or CUNY school starting this fall for families that make up to $100,000.
You can find more information, including FAQs and a sign-up form to receive email alerts about the scholarship at this link – The Governor’s Office hope that you will share this information widely within your community.
More than 940,000 middle-class families across New York State are expected to be eligible for the Scholarship, and the requirements are simple.
To apply, students must:
- Be residents of New York State
- Plan to attend a SUNY or CUNY two- or four-year degree program
- Take 30 credits per year and make progress towards graduation
- Maintain good academic standing
- Be on track to graduate on time with an Associate’s Degree in two years or a Bachelor’s Degree in four years
New regulations passed by the Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) Board of Trustees further clarify and provide flexibility for Excelsior Scholars by:
- Allowing for the interruption of study and waiver of post-award obligations based on military service requirements
- Allowing students to apply college credits earned in high school toward the 30-credits per year completion requirements
- Prorating repayment of an award if residency/work requirements are not met, and making provisions for waiver/postponement of repayment in cases of extreme hardship
- Allowing current college students who are six or less credits short of meeting the program’s credit requirements the opportunity to become eligible for the Excelsior Scholarship in 2018-2019, enabling them to "catch up" and qualify
- Authorizing disabled students to attend part-time and receive a pro-rated award
- The program goes into effect immediately, and is available for students whose families earn up to $100,000 annually beginning in the fall of 2017. It will extend to families making up to $125,000 annually by 2019.
