Here is an email that was sent from a community member...
"One moment to tell you West kids are AWESOME...! I emailed Sherri to see if some students would help run games and crafts at Jefferson for 1 1/2 hours. She sent it to a bunch of advisors and they emailed with me for a week. The kids showed up on time, in Scarlet gear and stayed to the last minute. They were all kind, respectful and did anything I asked. Very sweet with all the kids. Ethan was beyond amazing helping the younger kids with the ring toss and making sure that won a prize. I’m so hopeful this can continue and maybe the relationships between high schoolers and elementary can continue."
Scarlet Community Giving Back
Thank you to Molly Fox for being our faithful United Way rep!
We are at $3400.00 in donations for United Way and we want to hit our goal of $5150.00! If you have not submitted a donation form you still have time! If everyone donated $1 each pay period, our building would raise $3600. Every little bit counts and adds up quickly! You can find the forms by the mailboxes. We will be wrapping up our United Way Festivities on November 2, 2018! If you donate, you are in the running for these amazing prizes:

Here is another opportunity for Scarlet to give back:
Thank you to Matt Kolb and Adam Arnst for leading this one!
No Shave November
Shave October 31st and then grow out our facial hair (no trimming!) for the month.
This will be the fifth year for Grow MANkato, a group dedicated to the same cause- men's health (testicular and prostate cancer), with a local twist. Money raised through this initiative works with local health care providers to directly impact those in need. Specifically, they provide gift cards to help with daily expenses like gas and groceries for cancer patients at Mankato Clinic and Mayo Clinic Health System- Mankato.
Check out their Facebook page for more info!
West will be involved again this year, and we'll make a competition out of our fundraising efforts! Last year we made our own "Mini Jug," held a competition, and we won! The school with the most money raised wins!
If this is something you're interested in being a part of, they do some fun events to get started! There is a Shave Down November 1st starting at 5:00pm at the Mankato Brewery in North Mankato with live music and food! They also have a Mustache Bash Nov. 30 at Pub 500. There are a variety of other events throughout the campaign- find them in the attached poster!
We'll do a picture Thursday, November 1st before school and one at the end of the month, and do our own fun "beard, mustache, and otherwise competition" with categories afterward...
Looking forward to seeing all of your clean shaven faces Thursday, Nov. 1st at 8:00 in front of the gymnasium for our picture!!
You will be asked to donate $5.00 and will receive an envelope for the money you can raise.
Online Instructional Resource Approval Process
Wondering how to get approval for online resources? Here is a guide!
Important Reminders
Please keep students in your classrooms until the bell rings. We are starting to see "drifters" during Scarlet time, the lunch times, and 7th hour. Thank you for your cooperation!
Please post your grades Friday afternoon if possible. If you are waiting for work from a student before posting a grade, please use an Incomplete rather than waiting to post grades. Jodi will be able to change the grade for you when you have what you need. Thank you!
West Staff Resource Site
