February 17, 2014
What's in this week's announcements?
- i-Ready Assessment
- Weekly Snapshot
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Math Centers Field Trip
- February Birthdays
- NVVA Library
Are you ready for i-Ready?
It's that time again to see what you know in math and reading. Please log in to your i-Ready and complete both the math and reading diagnostic assessments by this Friday, February 21st. A great time to work on this would be this Wednesday (or Thursday) when your ELA teacher is out of the office and class is cancelled.
Remember:
Remember:
- These tests are adaptive, which means that as you are getting questions correct, the questions become more challenging until you start getting them wrong - it is meant to get too hard. Just answer the best you can when the questions start getting really tough.
- I want to see what YOU know, so it's really important that you are completing the tests 100% on your own - no help.
- Your login is your StudentID Number, and the password is: student.
The first 10 students to complete BOTH i-Ready assessments will receive a book from our Scholastic Book Fair in the mail. Every student that completes both i-Ready assessments by this Friday, February 21, 2014 will receive a free Frosty from Wendy's.
This Week's Work Samples
Your math and ELA teacher(s) will be kmailing these to you. If you need them, please let me know so I can get them to you.
Event Information
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Math Centers
Come join the 4th grade teachers for some fun math centers centered around the theme of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
You do not need to have read the book by Roald Dahl, but it is recommended. Did you know that the Oompa Loompas aren't actually orange with green hair?! Yep. That's something I learned when I read the book for the first time. Mrs. O'Connor will be holding optional read aloud sessions each day from 12:30 - 12:50 where she will be reading from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, so this may be something you're interested in checking out.
This outing will take place at the Nevada Virtual Academy office located at 8965 Eastern, Ste 330, Las Vegas, NV 89123. It is off of Eastern and 215 in the LVAC center.
Please RSVP via the Community Board.
