Air Force Jr. ROTC at EC Glass - Rising 9th grader parents should be aware of an unusual elective option at EC Glass. Air Force JROTC is a citizenship and character building program centered on military training and tradition. Most students feel out of their comfort zones initially, but just as many warm up to military culture as they learn in a demanding yet fun environment. Cadets quickly find a 'home' and a positive support structure as they bond and grow with other like-minded achievers. JROTC can be the perfect complement to their studies and goals. The self-discipline and motivation they gain helps them immensely regardless of their aspirations. JROTC academic disciplines include Leadership Studies and Aerospace Science, and extra-curricular activities include community service, field trips, competitive drill, rifle marksmanship, Raiders and an academic knowledge bowl team. Students are required to wear the military uniform once weekly, and they must meet military grooming standards. They also must meet behavior and core academics standards to remain in the program. Any and all Freshman can enroll and stay with JROTC but only if they want to. Not everyone is invited back their Sophomore year - only the motivated.

8th Grade Day: Kings Dominion -- Friday, May 22nd, 2020
A great day has been planned for LMS eighth graders to enjoy rides and to have fun with friends. In order to participate, eighth graders must maintain appropriate behavior and citizenship. From March 16th, 2020 through the remainder of the year, students must not receive any referrals resulting in a suspension and/or receive more than 3 referrals resulting in AIA. In addition, students who owe any obligations, fines, or fees to the school are ineligible to attend until the obligation is paid in full.
Due to the fact that all vendors must be paid for trip expenses, no refunds will be given after April 20th.
Cost: The cost of the trip will be $90. This price will cover transportation, a buffett lunch, and admission to the park. An eighth grade day T-shirt will be provided. Payment may be made all at once or in installments on the following dates: March 5th, 10th, 17th, 19th, 24th, 26th, 31st, April 2nd, 7th, 9th. Total payment must be received on or before April 9th.
Time: Buses will leave LMS promptly at 7:30 am and return to LMS at approximately 8:30 pm. Please make arrangements to arrive at school early as most school buses arrive after 7:30.
What to Bring: Students may bring snacks for the bus ride to and from Kings Dominion; they may also want to bring spending money to rent lockers for depositing dry clothes or for other purchases. In addition, students must wear the 8th grade T-shirts as well as any appropriate shorts (close to knee) or pants and comfortable shoes. If students wish to go to the water park, then they may bring towels and dry clothes. No swimsuits may be worn on the bus to/from the trip and/or in the regular park.
Parent Chaperones: If parents are interested in serving as chaperones, the cost is $90 (includes T-shirt, admission, lunch, and transportation). We hope to have enough seats for all chaperones on the bus; however, there may be a possibility that parent chaperones will have to drive separately. Please indicate on the permission slip (attached), if you would like to chaperone and if you would be willing to drive if needed. Please contact the school to ensure that you complete the proper procedures to be a chaperone.
Permission Slips: Below is a link to the student’s permission slip. No permission slips or money will be accepted after April 9th.
Please call Mrs. Allen at 515-5330 with questions regarding the trip or concerns about the cost
