From the Principal
IT IS GOOD TO BE BACK! Whether your family's selection for education to begin this school year was virtual or in-person, getting back to teaching and learning has helped to return a sense of routine that has otherwise been lost to social distancing for many. During the opening days of in-person instruction, students learned school procedures with an emphasis on MSD Warren Township's S.A.F.E Reopening Plan and the CDC recommended practices of face coverings, hand-washing and sanitizing and social distancing. Virtual learners learned about online expectations and worked to remedy connection difficulties. Virtual learners that have not yet been contacted should contact Mrs. Pam Griffin 317.869.4350.
Pages 7 and 8 of the the S.A.F.E Reopening Plan contains screening and return protocols for students and staff exhibiting symptoms. It is imperative that students exhibiting symptoms at home not be sent to school. RP is eager for all of our Rangers to be at school, but not at the expense of potentially spreading germs to others.
MSD Warren Township and Raymond Park continue to be responsive to parent requests for virtual and in-person preferences for school. Moving forward, the need to balance classes and staff will require that families adhere to the 9-week commitment initially made for the form of school students would observe. Though the window is closing, those wishing to switch from in-person to virtual school must complete the registration process at the district homepage and will be placed on a waiting list for virtual education. Those wishing consideration to move from virtual to in-person should contact their grade level counselor (contact information at the bottom of this newsletter).
During the second week of school, RP will work to provide all learners with Chromebooks. Students that already have school-issued Chromebooks at home are required to bring those to school each day. Students that cannot produce a school-issued Chromebook for which they were already assigned will be charged for its replacement as a part of the reissuing process. Chromebooks continue to serve as an integral part of the education and communication process for both in-person and virtual learners. It is important that students properly care for, charge and bring their Chromebook each day.
Upcoming dates:
- school pictures for in-person students will occur Thursday and Friday of this week.
- 7th and 8th grade Back-to-School Night is scheduled to occur through virtual meetings online Wednesday, August 19, at 6pm.
