Message From Central Road School
Mrs. Joanna Shostachuk, School Principal
A Note from Mrs. Shostachuk 8/22/2021
Dear Central Road Families:
We did it! The first week of school was filled with smiling faces! The start of the year is officially here and we were READY! The classrooms were nearly set, the lessons were planned, and our students learned and established their classroom communities. We are embarking on the new school year with greater confidence than we had at this time last year. It is important to remember how far we have come, as one year ago many more students remained at home for virtual learning. Our ability to have all of our students back in person working with our amazing Central Road staff while keeping everyone safe & healthy this week was wonderful to witness. Children have always looked to the adults in their lives in times of uncertainty. It is important that we continue to provide a calming and welcoming presence for our students. We appreciate your continued, ongoing support this week and throughout the weeks to come. We are stronger working together!
Please note that bus/transportation routes are posted in Infinite Campus for parents to view. We are working hard with our transportation department to make any needed adjustments. If you have an issue or question regarding transportation, please contact our school office so we can resolve the issue in a timely manner. Please also note that our busses require enough driving space to enter. Car drivers should allow our school busses the right of way when entering into our parking lot. We know we have some wrinkles to iron out but we will get there in the coming days/weeks. We have appreciated everyone's patience during dismissal in order to safely reunite students with families after school. Improving our accuracy will in turn improve our efficiency.
Please kindly continue to send your child to school with a mask and their self-certification lanyard signed each day. Students are welcome to bring a water bottle for drinking water. Our water fountains have been turned back on for refilling water bottles as needed.
3rd and 4th grade students received 1:1 chromebooks this week coupled with a tutorial on expectations and responsibilities that come along with having a 1:1 device. Students were excited to receive them! Students in K-6 also participated in our PBIS review of expectations this past week. Students were able to rotate to different areas around our school (playground, bus, hallway, cafeteria etc.) to discuss expected behaviors.
5th Grade & 6th Grade Instrumental Music is Ready to Start! This year we are pleased to offer instrumental music to all 5th and 6th grade students! Click here for more information and to sign up!
The week of August 23rd begins our first full week of learning at school. Students will begin digging deeper into all content area learning this week including formal math instruction. Classroom teachers will be sharing more information in the coming days as needed.
Picture Day will take place on September 1st. Online ordering information is below for your review. Online Prepay ordering information for our picture day on 9/1/21:

We are excited to be hosting Parent Orientation Night on September 1st . This event will take place in person at Central Road. Your child's classroom teacher will provide you with an overview of the curriculum and other bits of important information for the year. Please save the date and watch for additional information in the coming days about this adults only evening.
Recently, Dr. Heinz shared D15's Return-to-Learn, Reconnect, and Re-engage Plan. Please take a moment to review it at your convenience as it holds a great deal of important information as we continue to transition back to school. Return to Learn 21-22 Plan
Lastly, I visited every classroom this week introducing myself to the children. Their kind welcomes made this week an even bigger success! Thank you again for your continued support and for allowing us to spend quality time with your child throughout the school week.
Kindest Regards,
Joanna Shostachuk

AUGUST 2021
It's that time of year! We're back to school. On Day One, it was so wonderful to see all of you. And to our new students, I was happy to meet so many new faces. From new Preschoolers and Kindergarten students to older students new to our district this year, I love that so many are here at Central Road. It's a wonderful place and I wish you all the best this year. Yes, it will continue to be a challenge but, as with most of last year, we will get through and make it a great year.
WELCOME BACK!!!!!

The health and safety of our students is our top priority. We continue to encourage good hand washing and physical distancing at school. Students are wearing masks inside the building at all times except when eating. Masks are optional for students during the noon hour when outdoors. If your child is sick, please keep him/her at home for the safety of all. We will work together regarding next steps for returning back to school if ill. Thank you for your support and cooperation. THANK A CENTRAL ROAD STAFF MEMBER
Teachers in general love this time of year. Central Road teachers and staff members take the prospect of beginning a new year to a whole new level. They prepare their classrooms, plan lessons, organize schedules, review student records, and think about all of the possibilities the year ahead holds. As much as we recognize their efforts and successes here at school, nothing means more to a teacher or staff member than a kind word from a student or his/her family. As we get the year underway, I invite you to take notice of the things you see your child's teacher do, hear your child's teacher say, or the things you hear your child gush with excitement about related to their teacher. We've included this simple form for you to submit should you feel so inclined to do so. Children in full day school spend more of their waking day with their teacher than they do with their parents. We thank you for entrusting your child with us! This is going to be a great school year.
