Here We Come A Caroling
Burr...
It’s that time again. Temperatures are dropping and before we know it, white flakes will be falling from the sky. Please remember to dress your child for the frigid weather! It’s also a good idea to put an extra pair of socks and gloves in their backpacks in a Ziploc baggie. That way if their socks or gloves get soaked on the way to school or at recess, they can change and be comfortable during class or at recess later in the day. Also, please label all of their winter clothing. It makes things much easier at recess and dismissal. When items are labeled, the infamous “Hey, that’s mine”, can be easily remedied.
This Is Our Story
The annual, city-wide, music and art program will be held on Tuesday, December 17th in the Valparaiso High School gymnasium. The Central school choir and orchestra will be participating in this event. The art show opens at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30. We hope to see you there!
School Delay Information
SCHOOL-School normally starts at 8:45 a.m. When there is a delay, school starts two hours later at 10:45 a.m. Students do NOT stay two hours later when there is a delay.
BUSES-Your child’s bus will come two hours after it would normally come. Example: Your child’s bus comes at 8:10 a.m. When there is a two-hour delay, it would come at 10:10 a.m.
WALKERS & CAR RIDERS- If your child is a walker, he or she should walk to school two hours later than they normally would. If you drive your child to school, just leave exactly two hours later than you would normally leave. When there is a delay, supervision is provided on the school porch for walkers and riders starting at 10:20 a.m.
WEDNESDAYS– If a delay occurs on a Wednesday, the two hours applies like it was a normal day. School starts at 10:45.
LUNCH-Lunch is served at the normal time. The lovely lunch ladies estimate what they need and start making it before your child even arrives! Gosh, they’re good!
ACTIVITIES-All BEFORE school activities are CANCELLED for that day when there is a delay. After school activities will take place as usual.
We Are Recycling
Don’t know what to do with your used toner cartridges? Let us help you! Just send them in to school with your child and we’ll take care of recycling them for you! You’ll be doing something good for the environment and helping Central at the same time!
You CAN do it!
Are you up for a challenge? How about making someone’s holiday a little merrier? This year’s student council is challenging everyone to bring in at least ONE canned or non-perishable item for their Food Drive that runs Monday, Decemer 9th through Thursday, December 19th. If every student and staff member brings just one item we will donate over 400 items! Help us help others!

Box Top Challenge Coming Soon
Here is some helpful information:
- Shop for items with Box Tops on them (FYI-Meijer has bonus box tops that print with their receipts)
- Cut them out, put them in a baggie and send them in
- If you REALLY want to be helpful, cut them out neatly and put them in zip lock bags of 50.
- Ask your family members, like grandparents and others, to help you save
- Check out www.boxtops4education.com to see what else you can do to help
To up the ante, we are going to have a classroom challenge. The classroom
that collects the most box tops will win a frozen treat! Watch for more information to follow after holiday break.
