High School Registration Process
Attention 8th grade Parents: This is a very exciting time of year as we prepare your student for their transition to high school. Your Kulshan student will be participating in the high school registration process this spring. High school counselors will visit Kulshan the week of March 2-6 to help students view the Course Catalog and choose classes. All 8th grade students will be touring their attendance area high school on Thursday, February 27 from 12:00 – 3:00 PM. Do you have questions about high school registration? Please contact one of our Kulshan counselors with your questions. Thank you!

Local Author Visits Kulshan
On March 19, Kulshan is hosting local author Christine Day, who wrote I Can Make This Promise. Day is a member of the Upper Skagit tribe and the book takes place in both Seattle and the Suquamish ancestral lands. This book will be read aloud and discussed in 6th and 7th grade Social Studies and Language Arts classes. We are also setting up a Village Books pre-sale prior to the author visit.

Cooking with Common Threads
Classes in all grades are enjoying monthly cooking lessons through March 12th. This month, our student chefs will prepare and taste a chickpea curry and a rice pilaf! Keep an eye out for recipes coming home and visit https://commonthreadsfarm.org/recipes/ for more! As spring approaches, our school garden is looking for any gardening tools that are in good shape (especially rakes and pruners) and black agriculture plastic for covering cover crops. If you can help with this or if you’re interested in getting involved, please contact me: firstname.lastname@example.org
Lost and Found Clothing & Lunch Boxes
We have an overabundance of items in our Lost and Found bins. Be sure to stop by KMS and grab your Lost & Found items! We have over 100 lunch bags, coats, and sweatshirts. We recommend that parents write their student's name clearly on the outside or inside of their lunch box and clothing items. This helps us reunite students and items. Our PTSA donates Lost and Found items to local charities every 4-5 weeks. Thank you!
New Semester Begins Monday, Feb 3
We have wrapped up Semester 1 and we will begin Semester 2 on Monday, February 3. For some students, this means they will have a new Enrichment class or a new Extended Learning class. For Semester 1, teachers will be posting grades in Skyward by February 13. Semester 1 report cards will go home with students on Thursday, February 27.
KMS Account at Wee Ones Reruns
We have created a consignment account at Wee Ones ReRuns (next to Trader Joes) for Kulshan Middle School. You can request that your Wee Ones proceeds go to Kulshan Middle School’s account. Our school will get the credit for the items that sell. (They will give us 40% of the sale price of each item, which goes towards our KMS PTSA.) Our account code is K945 but if you forget, they have this on file. A special thank you to parent Teddi Johnson Anshus, our Kulshan Clothing Closet Coordinator.
