Easley Weekly Update
Everything You Need to Know for the coming week.
December 4, 2022
a note from the principal
Our next School Improvement Team meeting is Wednesday, December 14th at 5:30 PM in the media center.
Winter Bugs on the Rise
We have a number of students and staff out sick with either the flu, strep, or covid. Please be sure to keep your child home from school if they don't feel well or have any symptoms. We are encouraging them to wash their hands and stay out of each other's personal space as much as possible. Thank you for you cooperation.
Winter Literacy Night
We hope you can join us on Thursday, December 8th at 6:00 PM. Students can where their PJs, come and listen to teachers read their favorite books all around the building, and then enjoy cookies in the cafeteria. The schedules will be posted prior to the event so students can choose which rooms they want to visit. Parents are invited to mingle and relax in the media center or stand in the back of the room as children gather around to hear the stories.
Easley Holiday Giving Tree
As the holiday season approaches, we often take time to reflect on our blessings. However, not all families find themselves in favorable circumstances and there are children and families within our own school community in need. This holiday season the PTA is brining back the "Holiday Giving Tree" to help these students and families.
How can you help? The link is below if you are interested in providing an item for our Giving Tree. Thank you for making Easley a great community for our children and families.
Our next PTA meeting is Monday, December 5th at 6:30 pm in Easley’s media center. You can also join via Zoom using the link in Bloomz and the email version of this message.
Thank for donating pies for the pie drive
Thank you for donating pies for our Staff and Teacher Appreciation Pie Drive before Thanksgiving. We are happy to report that because of your donations, we were able to give a pie to each teacher and staff member, and also shared them with bus drivers and after school staff. Thank you for helping make our amazing teachers and staff know how much we appreciate them.
Concessions at Duke Basketball
Do you want to help support our school while bonding with other Easley families, teachers, and staff? We still have openings to work concessions at some upcoming Duke basketball games. Easley PTA receives a portion of the sales and parking is provided for volunteers. More information and a sign-up can be found here. If you have any questions please contact Sara Harrel at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Growing Together - Redistricting
As you are likely aware, Durham Public Schools will be redistricting in the 2024-2025 school year. The name of the redistricting plan is Growing Together and planning is well underway. You can access more information by clicking on the following links:
The Easley base zone will be changing and some Easley families may be impacted. Our School Improvement Team wrote this letter to the DPS School Board and the Growing Together Planning Committee on behalf of the Easley community to seek more information and clarification. I will continue to keep you updated via the Sunday updates.
Please click on this links below for more information about setting up a student account and/or applying for free or reduced lunch.
We are so excited to have volunteers back in the building! Your child's classroom teacher will inform you of volunteer opportunities. In order to serve as a volunteer you must complete the registration form and background check. Please view the links below for more information.
