Principal Note
Read Across America Week/2nd Annual D303 March Book Madness
It has been a great week at Munhall, with several fun literacy events planned for our students. Our Mustangs have had the opportunity to hear/see stories in the LRC with amazing performances by our staff and students, and classes have started reading the books that are part of the March Book Madness. Our students are excited to make their selections and crown the best book of March!
Report Cards
2nd Trimester Report Cards will be available on Home Access Center next Wednesday, March 9th at 8:00.
Panorama Social-Emotional-Behavioral Assessment
Dear Parent/Guardian,
St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 strives to provide all students with the best opportunity to succeed academically, socially, and behaviorally in school. As part of this commitment, District 303 is enhancing our Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) across the district for the 2021-2022 school year.
In the fall of this school year students in grades 3-12 completed a universal screening tool to assess their social and emotional learning skills. In the spring students in grades 3-12 will complete a follow up survey. The use of universal screening allows us to refine and strengthen our efforts to help all students achieve success by taking positive and preventative measures as early as possible. This also provides us with the opportunity to assist students who may need additional support with social and emotional learning.
One of the universal screening tools used by the District is the Panorama SEL Survey, which focuses on the following areas:
Self-Management
Emotional Regulation
Social Awareness
Grit
Self-Efficacy
Sense of Belonging
Teacher-Student Relationship
The Panorama SEL Survey for students will be completed between March 14th to 25th. If a screening shows that a student will benefit from additional skill development, parents will be contacted and will work in collaboration with school staff to problem-solve and determine next steps.
Additional information about this screener and other assessments in District 303 may be found on our website at https://district.d303.org/departments/assessment. Thank you for your support and assistance in ensuring each of our students has the opportunity to achieve academic and social-emotional success.
Please feel free to contact your building principal or me if you have questions.
Sincerely,
David Chiszar

5th GRADE HUMAN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT PRESENTATION
Fifth-grade classes will be attending the Human Growth and development presentation on Friday, March, 11. The presentation consists of a narrated PowerPoint, including a short video, and time to submit questions. The school nurses will review the questions and return answers to students within the week. Boys and girls programs are similar in content but will be presented and facilitated separately within your student's classroom. A letter will be sent to 5th-grade parents with more details via their classroom e-news. As a parent, you have the right to request that your child not participate in this presentation. If after reviewing the information you would prefer your child not participate, please submit a written letter to the principal by March 4, 2022, jarrod.buxton@d303.org. If you have any questions about the presentation you may contact your building Certified School Nurse, sherry.wisdom@d303.org or (331) 228-6648.
5 Essentials Parent Survey
District 303 participates in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey, which collects feedback from our students (4th and 5th graders), teachers, and parents. The feedback is an important component of the school improvement process, so I hope you take a moment to share your thinking about your child’s experiences at Munhall. The survey window is currently open and closes on March 22, 2022. We currently have 96 parents who have completed the survey! Thank you! We reached our 20% participation minimum! Families still have time to submit feedback!
Below is a variety of helpful links regarding the 5Essentials Survey, including a link to the login page for parents:

There is no school tomorrow, so enjoy the three-day weekend!
