Principal's Message
Dear Evergreen Elementary Families,
I hope you all are having a great October so far. We are settling into our distance learning routines and our students are making progress, both academically and social-emotionally. We have a lot of fun events coming up this month!
Please mark your calendar for our next material pickup day, which will be held this Thursday, October 15th from 8:00am-3:00pm on the Emily Avenue curb.
Also on Thursday, October 15th, our PTA is having our first member meeting of the year. We will meeting via Google Meet at 6:30pm. All Evergreen families are encouraged to join so we can talk about PTA events and fundraising for the 2020-2021 school year. Here is the link: https://meet.google.com/pdy-etbr-jgm
Just a reminder that meals are being provided at no cost on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays from 11 am – 1 pm at Lawrence Jones Middle School (5154 Snyder Ln), Rancho Cotate High School (5450 Snyder Ln) and Technology Middle School (7165 Burton Ave). Families can proctor for neighbors, and meals can be picked up by someone other than a guardian. Food Service staff will ask each car how many meal kits are needed for anyone 18 years of age or younger. Should a car request meals for multiple families/households, staff are able to separate milk by household so that there is no extra work for the proctor picking up for other families.
If your child hasn't informed you yet, Halloween is coming! Unfortunately, we can't do our traditional Halloween parade on the blacktop this year. Instead, we will be doing a Halloween Drive By Parade on Friday, October 30th from 1pm-2pm on Emily Avenue curb. Our staff will be standing on the curb in costume. Our PTA is providing goodie bags for each child in the car that can be collected at the end of the line. Please have your child dress up in their costume, and drive by the curb in your car. For everyone's safety, we would appreciate if all could wear masks in the car, and that you do not walk to the event in person. We're looking forward to celebrating the best we can this year, and also getting some fun pictures for the yearbook!
Warmest regards,
Jen Hansen

Construction Update
Our campus projects continue moving forward! Last week, they poured the new asphalt on the southern corner of our blacktop. The northern corner of the blacktop will be resurfaced soon so they match. Now, we just need our students back so they can play!
Rancho Cotate Fundraiser - "Haunt My House"
Rancho Cotate High School ASB is doing a fundraiser to have your house decorated for Halloween. You can also purchase pumpkins and candy. Rancho students will be socially distant, wear masks, not travel together, and follow all District safety guidelines while "Haunting." They're hoping to bring Halloween cheer to as many families as possible since trick-or-treating is not recommended this year.
