St Luke's Catholic Primary School
NEWSLETTER | 9 JUNE 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Our Year 6 students will receive the Sacrament of Confirmations over the coming weeks. We ask that you keep these students, their sponsors and families in your thoughts and prayers as they make this final step of initiation into the Catholic Church.
Farewell Mr Noseda
On Friday 3rd June we bid farewell to our long-term staff member Mr Noseda. Rob worked at St Luke’s for over 30 years and had a massive impact on the lives of thousands of students and their families. We thank him for the gift that he has been to our community and wish him well as he transitions into retirement.
School Uniform
Feedback on sample uniforms has been received and collated. We are currently working with Tudor uniforms on designs. It has been agreed that the final decision in relation to the new uniform will be made by the members of our School Advisory Council.

All students should be dressed in the Full School Winter Uniform for their photo day. Should your child have sport on either of these days they are permitted to change into their runners for the duration of the sport lesson. There is no need to bring their sports uniform to change into.
We are aware that not all students will have their Winter School Jumper as they are discontinued from the Uniform Shop. If you do have a jumper, please ensure your child is wearing it on the day. If you have any questions regarding your order, please contact 3P directly.
GRIP Leadership Conference
G: GENEROSITY
R: RESPONSIBILITY
I: INTEGRITY
P: PEOPLE
Session 1: Emily N - Year 4
In session one, we got to meet many student leaders from different schools and learn what they do in their school as leaders. We shared what we do at our schools to serve others. It was great to meet other students and connect with them. We had a great day!
Session 2 – Levi P – Year 6
In session two, we got to contribute our leadership ideas and got to hear other students’ ideas. The Conference theme was ‘STEP UP’. We completed an activity to understand what the acronym meant.
(S) SHOW what is right. (T) TELL the truth. (E) ENCOURAGE others to do what is right. (P) PERSIST if you are criticised.
Session 3 – Lachlan M – Year 6
In Session 3, we learnt about how to raise the standard of teamwork. Some ideas we learnt were:
‘Seek Ideas from everyone’,
‘Select the most suitable idea’,
‘Schedule a timeframe’, ‘
'Set tasks to suit team members’
‘Support each other’.
These are all steps to a successful idea coming to life.
In conclusion – Asha M – Year 5
We found out about riddles that tricked our brain and how to use teamwork in our school. We made a leadership poem. We all had lots of fun and got lots of ideas to use in our school.
We were incredibly proud of the way these students conducted themselves and represented St Luke's. Our school is in great hands! Thank you to Mrs Pollard for guiding our Student Council and involving them in this inspiring initiative.

Sport Update
Term Two has been busy right from the start!
On Wednesday the 25th of May, the Year Five and Six students participated in an afternoon of sport against Padbury Catholic Primary School. The students competed in netball, AFL, and soccer games to prepare themselves for the Winter Carnival the following week. The students showcased their talent in an array of areas impressing us with not only their sporting ability but their sportsmanship skills, displaying the Rainbow Values of St Luke’s.
The Winter Carnival held on the following week was no different. Through a series of games played against other schools in the area, the students from St Luke’s celebrated many great wins. There were lots of laughs and inspirational moments. I was again very impressed by the school values that were displayed on and off the field. Well done Year Five and Six students.
Alas the term is not over as Cross Country is just around the corner, postponed until the 16th of June due to bad weather. Student safety and the duty of care for all our students is always paramount. Thank you for your understanding. I am still seeking helpers for the 16th of June to guide the students around the course.
If you are available to help, please email emily.rasmussen@cewa.edu.au.
Your ongoing support and help is very much appreciated.

Donʼt ʻbanʼ devices, make a plan
Creating your familyʼs 'technology use agreement' is an evolving task and requires careful considerations. Involve your children in decisions about what are meaningful restrictions on the use of devices, based on what is fair, healthy, and aligned to the values of your family. To read more click here.
