Thank you to all our families who decorated trunks, donated treats, and attended Trunk or

Treat on Friday evening!!

The students had a great time and it was wonderful to see our Silver Springs Community together!

Happy Halloween!!!!

Halloween celebrations will take place on Friday, October 29th. Students will enjoy their parties in their classrooms on that day. Unfortunately, parent volunteers and visitors are not allowed at this time.

We will still have our Halloween Parade on Friday, October 29th at 2:30 p.m. The Halloween Parade route will take us outdoors and families are more than welcome to come view the parade outside! More specific details about the parade route will be shared in next week's Eagle Express.

Students can either wear their costume to school or be able to put it on over their clothes to avoid congestion in the bathroom areas.

Please follow these guidelines when planning your child's costume:

  • Please make sure the costume is weather appropriate (students will go outside for recess)
  • Students are responsible for their costumes not causing a problem during learning time.
  • Face make-up, hairspray, etc. must be applied at home.
  • No fake weapons of any kind are allowed at school.
  • No fake blood and no scary costumes (if it would scare a kindergartener, please don’t wear it!)

Happy Halloween!

Halloween Parade Information

The parade will take place outside this year on Friday, October 29th at 2:30 p.m. The parade route is highlighted below. Students will walk the parade route on the sidewalk that surrounds the building.

Parents are invited to watch the parade. We ask that parents line the parade route by standing in the grassy areas or along the gym wall, so students can walk on the sidewalk.

Silver Springs Cardboard Challenge

Get ready for the Silver Springs Cardboard Challenge! Student Leaders Hadley and Lily proposed an idea about doing a Cardboard Challenge. Hadley did something like this at another school she attended and thought it would be a cool idea to try it at Silver Springs. We also think it would be a great way for students to check out the new Maker Space.

Please see the flyer below for more information! Throughout the month of October, we will be collecting cardboard and donations of packaging tape and duct tape. In the hallway, outside grade level classrooms there will be a large box that will collect all the cardboard and tape donations that students bring in.

Then, the week of November 8th, classrooms will pick a time to go to the Makerspace to create things with the cardboard.

Great cardboard donations include:

Toilet paper rolls

Paper towel rolls

Cereal boxes

Amazon Boxes

Leader in Me Focus for the Week - Habit 6: Synergize

Habit #6: Synergize

What this means: Working together is better. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

“I get along well with other people and work well in groups.”

“I value the strengths of others and allow myself to learn from them.”

“I know that working together as a team we can get more done and come up with better solutions than we could alone.”

“I seek out other people’s ideas to solve problems.”

How can I do this in my life?

With your children, choose a problem you may have (like curfew or completing tasks). Use the Synergy Action Plan to summarize your child's solution and your solution: (1) define the problem, (2) share your views, (3) think of solutions, (4) choose the best solution together. See if you can reach a better solution (The High Way) than either of you could come up with alone.

COVID Safety and Mitigation Plans

As we come together in learning this year, it is important to remember to perform at-home self-monitoring using the COVID-19 Daily Student Symptom Screening Tool. This screener serves as a daily reminder that children who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 (or ANY illness) need to stay home from school. This is an important measure that will help prevent or reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our schools. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in using this screener each school day. In addition to the daily screener students and staff are required to wear masks while indoors.
Big picture
The NPS 2021-22 COVID-19 General Mitigation Response Plan outlines the multiple layers of COVID-19 safety measures being implemented across the district to support the health and safety of all students and staff. School principals will share specific building procedures with families. Processes are in place at each school to teach and/or reinforce safety measures with all students. The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document answers additional questions you may have as you and your child are preparing for the start of the 2021-22 school year.

School Lunch Program

The Northville Public Schools provides a hot lunch program for interested students.

Families must preorder lunches for preschools and elementary students. Orders must be in by 8am for preschools students and 8:30 am for elementary students to receive a lunch that day. The system will not allow you to order after the time listed above. For your convenience, meals can be preordered up to 30 days in advance. To avoid any issues, we recommend ordering the night before.
