Class Goodies
The last couple of weeks have been busy with curriculum and fun! I cannot believe it is March and that Spring Break is just around the corner (my disbelief probably has something to do with the snow this weekend)!
Here is a peek at what we have been up to...
Pennies for Patients
This is a school-wide event to raise money for children with Leukemia. We will be collecting money all this week. Thank you for any contributions made to this amazing cause!
BOOK ORDER
Please look at the book order that is coming home today - I will take orders on the Thursday AFTER Spring Break (the 30th).
STUFFED ANIMAL DAY!
The students have been working hard on doing kind acts for others. We recently filled our kindness flower vase and will be celebrating by bringing in stuffed animals for a "pet shop day."
Students voted on this reward.
Please allow your students to bring in one stuffed animal ON TUESDAY to keep at their desks. My only rule is that it must be small enough to fit in a backpack, so that it is not too distracting during work time.
Friday was Missouri Read-In Day!
We celebrated with our buddy class
Sharing a story
Listening to two buddies read aloud
All about adjectives...
We have been reviewing adjectives and how they work to describe nouns. We described monsters, animals, and even used our five senses to describe popcorn!
Adjectives with a taste test twist
Sidewalk chalk
It was too cold to go outside, so we used sidewalk chalk to make animal webs on paper indoors!
5 Senses
Animal Adaptations
Those of you who were able to visit us at the first grade table during our STEAM Showcase, got a sneak peak of our animal adaptations unit. We have been learning about ways that animals adapt for protection, camouflage, getting food, and locomotion. Our culminating project will come after break.
Dr. Seuss Madness
In light of March Madness and Dr. Seuss's birthday, we are celebrating with a bracket. The awesome media specialists in our district have put together links to district staff and students reading the books based on the bracket below put out by the Barbara Bush Houston Reading Foundation. It has been great fun! Can't wait to see which story comes out on top!
Spring Festivities
This Thursday between 1:30 and 2:30 we will be holding our spring party. PTA is working to put together parties for classes to have in their rooms, rather than have a grade level, gymnasium one.
If you would like to help, please just plan on being there at 1:30!
