COLLEGE AND CAREER:
Conroe and Willis ISD Virtual job Fair
Are you a Junior or Senior looking for a full-time or part-time job or internship? Join Education for Tomorrow Alliance, Conroe ISD and Willis ISD for a virtual job fair to learn more about job opportunities in Montgomery County.
Registered students will have the opportunity to meet and connect with local companies that are looking for both full-time and part-time/internship employees. This fair is not intended as a job interview, but rather an opportunity for students to hear from and learn about various local companies that are looking to hire current and graduating high school students.
This fair will be conducted virtually though Zoom. Every student must register in advance and provide a minimum of three companies that they would like to hear from on the day of. Companies will provide four 15-minute informational sessions, and students will be moved in and out of the sessions based on their selections when registering.
When: Wednesday, April 21, 2021, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Where: Zoom
Cost: FREE - Registration required
Eligibility:
- Be a current Junior or Senior from a Conroe ISD or Willis ISD High School
- Graduating Seniors: Seeking full-time employment after graduation
- High School Juniors: Seeking a part-time job or internship during the summer months (with potential to continue into the 2021-2022 school year)

Student Internship Opportunity: The 2021 Online Student Internship Application is officially live and due April 2. All current juniors interested in applying can find our online application and all of the program details on the EfTA SIP Student Applicant Page. (https://www.efta-us.org/2021-student-internship-program---applicant-page.html) As of right now the IRONMAN is scheduled for April 24. We are still requiring students to get 4 volunteer hours. They can either do a four hour shift at the IRONMAN if they feel comfortable being in person (all PPE supplies will be provided) or they can submit 4 hours that they have done on their own in 2021. IRONMAN volunteering must be a specific job as outlined on the EfTA SIP Application Page. The teacher recommendation form is also online. We are asking the students to submit the recommender's name and email address on their application so we can match them on the back end as well as emailing the link to a teacher after asking for a recommendation. Interested students, please see Mrs. Davies, the TWHS Campus rep for the EfTA SIP Program, in room 314 for any other questions.

CLINIC NOTES:
If a copy of your student’s vaccine record is needed to submit to their college or university, you or your student may request it by calling or emailing the clinic at 936-709-1076 or aransley@conroeisd.net. Please be aware that we will not be available after May 27th. If your student has not had an additional dose of the MCV4 (meningitis) vaccine after their 16th birthday, it is required by most colleges and universities for them to be fully vaccinated. You may want to also discuss whether the additional Meningitis B vaccine is appropriate for your child.
If your student has been vaccinated against COVID, please send us a copy or screenshot of that vaccination record via email (Senior Campus - aransley@conreoisd.net, 9th Grade Campus - jffletcher@conroeisd.net), or ask your student to stop by the clinic and we can make a copy, so we can add it to their record. Currently, individuals who have been fully vaccinated do not need to quarantine after an exposure, if they remain symptom-free, you are able to submit proof, and it has been longer than two weeks since their final dose.

CLUB NEWS:
TWHS STUDENT COUNCIL: Despite the challenges as we began 2021 Student Council was able to continue to have an impact on our school as well as community. Posting motivating quotes on social media every Monday - attending TWHS events around campus, and we were even able to pull off our Mr. Woodlands competition on March 10. Thank you to all the students that participated and congratulations Austin Smith on being crowned Mr. Woodlands. Community impact has also been amazing as we begin 2021. After the freeze it came to our attention that Kids Meals was in need and WOW did TWHS come through in a big big way. Student Council reached out to all our sports teams and clubs regarding the need for lunch supplies: snacks, protein, fruit, and drink. In a little over a week were able to pack over 2000 lunches and provide enough supplies to help with their weekly and spring break needs. The generosity of TWHS is awesome and we prove when we work together, we can do GREAT things. Student Council is currently working on a faculty and staff cookbook which we are very excited about and are planning our only in person pep rally for Seniors only - continued big things planned for the remainder of the year. If you or your student has a question about Student Council, please email Kristen Gartner at kgartner @conroeisd.net. Our next meeting is Monday March 29 6:00 in the SR campus cafeteria.
NATIONAL ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY: National English Honor Society will accept applications for new members until 4/9. Sophomores and Juniors are eligible. Please complete the Google form application to be considered. https://forms.gle/iuDHhenKTnsYQmYK7
Would you like to be published? Our literary magazine, The Fife, is accepting art and writing submissions from any genre until 4/15. Please use the Google Form for more info about the call and to submit your work for consideration. https://forms.gle/1t13ABTAN4kcRqHS9
SCUBA CLUB: Congratulations to Gabi Nix and Megan Fitchett who completed a “Try Scuba” event over Spring Break! If anyone is interested in trying out scuba diving, let us know and we can arrange another session.
Our next club meeting is Monday, April 5th, at 3pm in the Senior Campus LGI. We plan to discuss various equipment options—pros and cons of different brands, prices, etc. Freshmen can take the activities shuttle after school to attend. You do NOT have to be scuba certified to attend our meetings, plus every meeting you attend gets your name in a drawing for some nice prizes at our May meeting! Snacks will be provided!
