Cliffwood School Parent Newsletter
June 2019
Principal's News
Dear Cliffwood School families,
Believe it or not, the end of the school year is here! It's been a great year at Cliffwood School and I am so proud of our students for all that they have learned and accomplished. During the last days of school, our students have many fun and engaging activities planned in their classes and the weather will be getting warmer (hopefully!). During these fun last few days, please continue to dress your child in appropriate attire for school, particularly no flip-flops (this is for their own safety). Also, please be aware that the last day of school is Monday, June 24. Note that June 21 and 24 are both 4-hour days with 1:20 dismissal time.
I wish all of our students and their families, plus all of our great staff, a fun, relaxing, and safe summer! To our 3rd graders, best of luck next year at Lloyd Road; we know you'll make us Cliffwood Proud! For our other students, come back ready for a terrific 2019-2020 school year. See you in September! Thanks and take care,

Grade 3 picnic set for Friday
Our 3rd graders will enjoy their class picnic this Friday, June 7. Students will have lunch outdoors and then fun games and activities. Students will receive their yearbooks in the morning. If you choose to, please apply sunscreen, bug spray, etc. to your child in the morning. As a reminder, parents/visitors do not attend this event. Classes were limited to 2 volunteers per class. Fingers crossed for nice weather!
Summer reading is key!
The mission of the MARSD Summer Reading Program is to promote a lifelong love for reading in our children. With your help, this Summer reading program will give your child an opportunity to enjoy quality books and develop a love and appreciation for reading. Please assist your child in selecting, reading, and responding to books this summer. The public library has a copy of our suggested lists (see link below) and may be able to assist you and your child in selecting appropriate titles. Every child entering Grades 1-5 is expected to return to school with a Summer Reading Record Sheet. The sheet must be completed and brought back to school to be shared with the class in September. This activity will give your child an opportunity to think more deeply about the book, express his/her creativity, and have fun.

Supply lists for 19-20 year
I know it's early but here are the supply lists, by grade, for the 19-20 school year. It never hurts to get your shopping done early!

Registering for the 19-20 school year
It's time to start thinking about next school year and that means registering new learners to attend Cliffwood in the fall. If you are planning to have your child attend Cliffwood School for the first time next year, please complete the registration process as soon as possible. It is very important that you register as soon as you can and follow all steps in the process. Click here to learn more about registration or contact our district registrar, Ms. Torres, at atorres@marsd.org to make an appointment.
