FURR Elementary May 17, 2020
e-Learning Edition!
Dear Furr Families!
We have one last week of eLearning and it's going to be a busy week! We miss, miss, miss our kiddos and families. One of the many blessings, believe it or not, is to see so many of our students and families...outside on nice weather days! Whether you are walking around the school, riding bikes or playing a game of family football in the "front yard" of the school, it's so nice to see our families and community making the most of every moment.
I wanted to remind everyone that we will be collecting Chromebooks/chargers, library books and any other item that needs to be returned to the school, and giving you all bags with your students "stuff" this week, May 20-22, 8:00-4:00PM. If you ordered a yearbook, that will also be in your child's bag. We thank you in advance for your patience during this time. It would be very helpful if you were able to hand us a paper with your child's name (first, last) and the grade written on it. We will collect that information curbside (BACK CAR LINE) while we have runners inside to bring out your materials.
HOW WILL THIS EXCHANGE/DROP-OFF LOOK LIKE AT FURR ELEMENTARY? My teachers and staff will be helping with this, on these days, May 20-22nd. We are asking parents to use the BACK CAR LINE for picking up your child's belongings. Please pull through to the back car-line and stop at a designated cone. Someone will come to your car and get the appropriate information needed from you. DO NOT PARK AND GET OUT OF YOUR CAR. For your safety and ours, please stay in your car. A staff member will come to your car to pick up any items you need to give back to the school and we will also give to you, your students school supplies and belongings. There will be more information concerning these exchange days coming soon.

I wanted to take this moment and say THANK YOU for making this such an AMAZING FIRST YEAR for Furr Elementary. As I reflect back on the year, opening day until now, we have laughed, loved and learned ..... A LOT, together! We have created a neighborhood school that is a SAFE place for our kids to learn and for all of us to be proud of! No one knew that we would leave for Spring Break and upon returning, elearning would commence! We all have made it through these radical times and Im most proud of "All of Us", supporting each other! Thank you parents for your generosity, your grace and patience, and for sharing your children with us, this year. This newsletter will be the last one for this year....and it's a bittersweet moment for me. Thank you for entrusting us with your children so that we can make the world a better place. Please stay safe this summer and enjoy each day, each moment! I look forward to seeing everyone next school year. It starts with us...Be Kind!
Respectfully,
Cindy Zukowski

SUMMER READING!!!
Dear Parents, As you continued the role of parent and adopted the new role as teacher, I want to thank you for your commitment to your child’s education. It’s no small task to keep the house running while simultaneously learning a new trade. Moving forward, it’s vital to your child’s success in reading that they continue to read throughout the summer. Below, you will find ideas to encourage their reading and tips to help your child continue to experience the joy of reading throughout the summer.
