Greetings Students and Families,
Welcome back from the long weekend! I hope you all got lots of rest for the coming week. It is time to get back to our regular schedule and routines.
Math focus: Understand Multiplication -
Monday - Model Multiplication
Tuesday - Repeated Addition
Wednesday - Multiply with Arrays
Thursday - Arrays & Multiplication
Friday - Quiz
Literacy focus: Target skill - Clarify
Chicken Sunday by Patricia Polacco. Strategies for learning new words within text.
Constructive Response with less teacher modeling.
Reading Challenge:
Please remind your student to bring their independent reading book and pink reading log to school every day. New pink reading logs and books (for those who are finished) will be starting on Friday of this week.
Spelling focus: Unit #10 Long i - Practice, practice, practice! Please use words in a sentence when helping your child study their list.
*Remember to check your child's planner every night! This nightly routine helps form good habits and fosters responsibility.

Battle of the Books group meet every Tuesday during lunch.
Please encourage your reader to come and check it out. Battlers will read 15 books from now until January and challenge other teams using their knowledge of the books to earn points.

Veteran's Day Memorial Wall!
Veteran's Day is November 11th
PTO would like to celebrate Veteran's Day by honoring those who have served or are currently serving in the United States military services.
Stars are being sent home on Monday, November 03, 2014 with students. Write down the name of a person in your family who has served or is currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. (Additional stars are at the front office it needed.) All the stars will be displayed on the wall beside the art room. Let's fill the wall and honor those who have and continue to protect and serve the Unites States.
You may include any of the following information on your star(s):
Branch of military
Number of years served
Dates served
Any wars they served
Stars will be collected from November 04th - November 11th
Dates to Remember
Nov. 04 - Picture Re-takes
Nov. 11 - Veterans Day
Nov. 26 - Early Release Day 1:45 pm
Nov. 29&28 - Thanksgiving Holiday
