Pre-ACT and ACT Testing
Team Columbia:
We will be administering the Pre-ACT to 10th Graders and the ACT Plus Writing for 11th Graders on Tuesday. As you know, the ACT Plus Writing will be used as our accountability measure for our school. To measure growth, the Alabama State Department of Education has mandated the Pre-ACT become a state assessment this year. The State made this decision on March 23. All 10th Graders in the State will take the Pre-ACT on May 8. What this means for Columbia is, we are ahead of the game. Since our students will be taking the Pre-ACT on Tuesday, this assessment will count and our students will not take the Pre-ACT on May 8. We will also be reimbursed the funds we will pay for the scoring of the Pre-ACT by the State.
The State will use the Pre-ACT results to compare to the ACT results for those students next year when they take the ACT. That is how the State will determine growth for our accountability measure.
Our 9th grade students will be out of the building and our 12th grade students will be taking part of activities downstairs. April 3 will require all hands on deck. One thing I will say about our Team, we sure know how to come together when it counts!!!
Due to the nature of events on April 3. We want you to be comfortable whichever role you are playing. Therefore, you may wear jeans on Tuesday!
Thanks for all you do!!
As always, have a great week of teaching and learning!!
