In Case You Missed It:
Congratulations to Kim Ashby and Anriette Pienaar on becoming grandmothers. Kim welcomed grandson, Parker, last weekend. Anriette's granddaughter, Greer., made a surprise appearance this week. Both are over the moon with their new roles!
Alice McIver, SLMS custodian, has announced she will be retiring at the end of March. She says she is ready to enjoy life and not worry about alarms and schedules. Please let me know if you know anyone that may want to join our custodian team.
Our new custodian, Keith Smith, is still working out his notice with his former employer and will officially begin at SanLee on Monday, February 24.
Friday morning we did call for an ambulance for one of our substitutes. She was experiencing some symptoms that were concerning to her physician and was instructed to go to the hospital. While at the hospital, she was diagnosed and treated for a condition that could have caused major permanent disabilities if acted on quickly. She is extremely appreciative to SanLee for caring so much and ensuring she was all right. This is yet another example of why SLMS is a special place to work and learn.
Sherell Stevenson has accepted a position at WB Wicker Elementary school as a STEM teacher. She began last week and reported she is excited with all the potential growth and learning that will come from being in the new STEAM school in Lee County. She plans to come by this week to get her things now that she knows where her permanent home is and promised to stop in and see everyone.
February 24-27 will be our AVID Walkthroughs.
- Monday- Exploratory
- Tuesday- 8th
- Wednesday- 6th
- Thursday-7th
According to feedback last time, people wanted to see the specific strategy so needed to know exactly when to come into the classroom. We also had feedback that many people prepared for people to come in and got their kids excited, and then no one came by. I'm going to be asking for more specific times for visits for strategies to help with the first issue. I'm not sure what to do about the second issue. If you have any suggestions, let me know.
This is a gentle reminder to all that we are models for our children at all times. When you are at your door meeting and greeting children, it sets a positive tone to start each day and each class. Please refrain from being on your cell phones while you are with children or monitoring in the hallways/transitions.
