Kia Ora,
Unfortunately Matapu school and the surrounding area lost power in the early evening last night. It has not come back on yet so we have made the decision to close the school again today. This is not done lightly, but all means of communication, heating, lighting, and printing rely on power so it is not safe for us to open today.
For our families with power, our wonderful teachers will post some activities online by way of Seesaw or Google Classroom from 9 am today.
If power comes back on part way through today, we will still not open the school. With many of the surrounding properties without power, can I please ask for our community members who see this message to get in contact with friends and families who may have missed it due to the power outage.
We will make another post later today with updated information regarding our power situation and ability to open tomorrow.
