The Greatest Job in the World
A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.
I am reminded on a daily basis that I have the greatest job in the world and it is because of what educators do. This quote is reflected over and over on a daily basis in our learning environments at PHS. I get to take part in this and truly appreciate the opportunity to learn from you and sit in your classes and take it all in. I don't know of another profession where one has a staff of professional content experts from whom they can learn new things everyday. For that, I thank you!

Classroom Spotlight
Some of the feedback that I got on the last Friday Flash was to spotlight classes each week to let our other teachers know some of the exciting things that were going on in the school. For this week, I have chosen Science. Our Science department was alive yesterday with labs. Mr. Myszewski's class was doing a mystery box activity, and students were formulating their own hypotheses to try and determine what object was in there boxes...the mystery will be solved on Monday. Mr. Gregory's class was experimenting with earthworms to determine their reaction to different stimuli, the open creativity that students were allowed with stimuli showed an authentic form of learning that is so critical...three words...ring of fire...ask Gregory. Mrs. Noble's Chemistry class was heating up a mixture of chemicals and then cooling them quickly to create iron pyrite...each group proudly took their souvenirs home. Among broken beakers and closed of sulfur smoke was Mrs. Noble calmly and efficiently guiding them through the process.
I would encourage you to ask your colleagues about these labs and have them tell you more, there is no way I could have done them proper justice with these short blurbs...they were awesome!
Mystery Box
Student in Mr. Myszewski's Physical Science class formulate hypotheses about the contents of the Mystery Box.
Behavior/Stimuli
This worm is glad to have a break from all the stimuli yesterday in Mr. Gregory's Biology class.
Iron Pyrite
The finished product vs. the real thing from Mrs. Noble's lab yesterday in Chemistry.
